I thought your car was much older then that! I did not think that a 1997 Hydaundi Elantra would have so much going wrong with it. That sounds quite a bit for a motor. I hope that is the only thing that goes wrong with it. As I said, maybe you should look for a new used cars, maybe a standard model so that the parts will be easier and cheaper to get.

I'm sure you could find a decent motor by yourself for a much better price, and then have the mechanic put it into your car. Most wreckers do take the motor out of cars before crushing them, and they store these for situations like yours.

I'm so sorry to hear that! What a shock, and this might sound like a stupid question, but have you thought about a 2nd opinion? Another thing to consider. With cars not selling, not even used ones, perhaps you would be better off looking to see what is available on the market. Dealerships are hurting enought to get some really terrific bargains....and great financing to boot.

Here's another thought I just had. Is there any way the damage was cause by your neighbor? If her actions could have caused the problem, the repairs might be covered by insurance. Talk to the mechanic who made the estimate to see if there's any possibility.
