The most effective methods of promotion

While earning on line, what are the most effective methods of promotion in your opinion? To build a blog or site, to advertise in some sites, to post at forums, to send emails, or to chat on line? I have my blog but seemingly it hasn't bring any direct referrals for me though with thousands of visits; every success I've achived in promotion comes from online chatting with some chatting tools.This method,though effective according to my experence, takes time and is a bit tiring. How about you? what do you think are the most effective methods of promotion?

Guess i'm too lazy to track where my refs come from. Have been a member of a few sites that say where your refs signed up from. Would be helpful if this was more common.

The most effective ways for me is Vinefire.com and my forum (referral swapping forum) you can find the web adress on my profile :D I have a blog too.. but I am not to good at updating it :S

I think you should have some good things and maybe news for visitors. I think the best thing to promote is to constanly promte your site everywhere. It's really difficult I know but it's the best way.. I'm promoting this http://betsports1x2.com/en/surebets.html and i have received 4000 real visitor in one month.. uff.. I'm really tired
