Yep I know I'm not the only one who feels lonely or trapped from time to time in their house. I've been in this house for 7 yrs of that 6 yrs as a stay-at-home mom & 6mo ago I started a pt job just to get out. I have next to no no friends left. We are broke most of the time so we don't get to go anywhere beyond the grocery store and Wallyworld. So what do you all like to do besides go online to give yourself a lil change from your normal routine?

do you have a local library? they often have stories for little ones. we went when our daughters were younger because it was a chance for them to play with other kids and me a chance to be with other moms. i was a stay at home mom for about 10 years and to bust boredom, i did a lot of crafts and sold avon for that time. i also volunteered at school.

The library here the storytimes are pretty structured. When my oldest was small she was the one who wanted to run thru the racks of books or touch whatever the librian had for visuals to go with music or stories. The moms didn't talk to anyone unless they already knew each other. It was pretty stuck up and when I've got the only antsy 3yo and the rest are behaved you get a bit embarassed too. I do crochet when the kids let me breath somewhere inbetween. I would like to volunteer at school but since I have 2 that are not in school full time they frown on you bringing them. *sigh* I even asked my #2's speech teacher (she goes for an hr 2x a week) if there was anything they needed done I could do it for them during that hour so I wouldn't have to drive home in winter for that whole hour or sit in my car burning unnecessary gas... no dice on that one. Even if I put my lil guy in a stroller. I feel sometimes like I'm being punished for having kids.

This weekend I spent $5.55 on 18 plants and now have a flower garden along my garage. It took me a couple hours out in the sun and breeze to do it and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Those flowers will be my little vacation when I look out at them or take a chair out and sit near them. Join a book discussion club or go to one of your library's activities. You'll meet new people and give your brain a nice jolt.

Yeah, that's pretty much been my life for the past 6 years as well. Now that it's getting nice out though, I'm taking my kids to the park everyday. We have a few nice parks nearby, one has a 4 mile walking trail, one has a creek the kids like to play in as well as playgrounds, some parks are nothing but playgrounds, so those are some things we're doing in the nice weather. We also know of some cheap and even free beaches nearby that we can go to once summer comes around, and we purchased a family membership to the zoo so we can go to that anytime we want. We're trying to get a reduced price family membership to the YMCA so I can go work out sometimes, and we can get the kids involved in things at a reduced price... I'm still waiting to hear on that. We visit the library frequently, and the library does a storytime every Monday night, with crafts and a snack. That takes about an hour so we do that... sometimes they'll do one during the day too so I'll take the preschoolers to that. I actually was on Craigslist today while bored and under the community section there was a list of classes. Some of the classes listed were Zumba classes and they charge $6 per class. If you visit your local Craigslist you might find something similar. There are also loads of mommy groups and other type things you can join if you just look for them. Hope I've given you some ideas. Good luck, and let me know how it goes. BTW... where abouts do you live?

I am a person who can stay alone in house for long time and would not feel lonely if there are books in my hand. I love reading so much especially the interesting novels. Sometimes I even forgot to eat while I am reading my favor novels. But sometimes, I also got that feeling that I just want to escape from this place. Just can't bear to do the same thing every day and see the same people each day. Just want to break the peaceful lake!!!!
