Pakistan is no more a part of countries hosting the 2001 cricket world cup. ICC removed it from the list due to the security situation there. It also raise questions on whether Pakistan will take part in the world cup, after loosing the opportunity to host it.And will they be ready to send there players to play in India.

Hi Vipin, This was obvious. Now look at the irony, only on the security ground the domestic cricket went to South Africa now how would India beef up so tight a security arrangement to hold the 2009 Cricket world Cup. ( LOOK YOU COMMITTED A MISTAKE THERE IT IS 2009 and not 2001 ) In my opinion even India too should have been removed from the list. Why the people here maintain double and triple or multiple standards I really wonder.

Hii Rajib, Ya its 2011 not 2001(also not 2009..lol), and do you really think the security condition in India is same as Pakistan. I don't think so, they are two completely different countries, there is no comparison whether its is about security or credibility. In a way they are right in seeing India and Pakistan on different spectrum.

Rajib, I am with Vipul on this…there can never be any comparison between India and Pakistan right from the time of their creation. Apart from the different cultural aspects, there is precious little we share any longer. The situation in Pakistan is such that after 60yrs of military misrule, the country is on the verge of an internal explosion. The Talibans and fundamentalists are capitalizing on that for their own benefits. India on the other hand has had steady democracy all along (except for those years of Emergency). And democracy has provided us with stability and growth and the willpower to do something constructive. Also remember that the military in India is subservient to the Govt so even if some groups want to destabilize the country, it would be difficult without the army’s or police’s support. Regarding IPL, it clashed with the Lok Sabha elections hence had to be held outside. Too much of security arrangements had to be made with so many foreign players participating so the Govt did not want to risk either the players or the politicians. A wise choice, in my opinion.

Hi Sudipta & Vipul, ya, if things are compared on this level that seems legit. Surely India is much secure than Pakistan. And it was perhaps due to the Election the Govt. denied the concession.

I am not bothered whether Pakistan does or doesn’t send its players…yes, I will miss a few exciting matches but that’s all. Pakistan has never had a single good word for India ever and has always blamed India for its own misfortunes and shortcomings. Even the other day I was reading in the newspapers about Zaheer Abbas’s comments that BCCI has influence the ICC in implementing this ban on Pakistan AND it was actually the Indians who masterminded the attack on Sri Lankan cricketers to tarnish Pakistan’s image…just imagine! Regarding the ban, I think if the ICC had not rescheduled the venues, World Cup 2011 itself would have been at risk as few foreign teams would have agreed to play in Pakistan.

We have lost so many cricketing events due to terrorist attack. First ICC Champion's Trophy got cancelled which was due to held in Pakistan. Then The club T20 Championship got canclled in which RR, CSK and other countries top culb were due to play. Lastly, we lost a good series against Pakistan in January but that was compensated by some good cricket with SL but again India - Pakistan clash is different. It will be exciting to see if these two contries clashes together in T20 World Cup. Although the chances are low as both the teams are last time finalists and Pakistan isn't looking good to even cross the first hurdle!

It was to happen. What happened there and with the current volatile condition, it was very natural. Also India will host 29 matches now of 2011 WC.

Ya India has got 29 matches to host in the revived schedule, previously they were hosting 22. I guess why your stars ranking is at 7 they way you give responses, mean agreeing to the discussion most of the time, it should be near to 10..lol

Hey vipinl I think ICC has taken a right decision to debar pakistan to host 2011 ICC World cup for security reason. It is also proved that no country will play Pakistan due to above reason. It is upto Pakistani Govt to send their play or their team to 2011 world cup cricket. pkc3000

hi pkc3000, ya there decision can be truly justified, especially after the Srilankan players attacked there, and it was a real big security lapse. Now sub-continent teams will also think twice before going there.

Yes, pakistan is out of 2011 WC hosting nation. I thought that India will also get affected by it. I think teams like Oz and kiwis would think twice before coming to India. Every thing is now dependent on how we mange to host commonwealth game in 2010. That would set the tempo for WC 2011. I think that New Delhi will be hosting A Formula one race in November 2011. Mr. Malya was suggesting that in 2008. That would also be a big occassion. I just hope that we don't face problems in CW game 2010!

I don't think Australian or kiwi team would have any problem coming.. as the decision to shift from Pakistan should have been taken consulting to the representatives of the cricket boards of rep. countries. Ya there will be no problems during commonwealth and we have enough security to manage any of the big competitions.

Commonwealth Games is really a problem. The "impotent" government has already shown its utter lack of urgency when they decided to not provide security guarantee for the IPL. In India, no one can predict about the timing of an election and if somehow it happens during the commonwealth games then what will be the policy of the government. Hope, "the iron man" will be there at the helm and nothing like this will happen. F1 will certainly be here in Noida in 2011.

this is all weird.australia didnt want to send tennis player because the security is not good.and suddenly for cricket, indian became the haven of safety? may be ICC is believing that 2011 world cup is about 2 years later and we dont have to worry about security now. or may be indian might beef up security within 2 years? yeah sure when taliban is around 100 KM from the indian border and considering how easily every terrorist organisation can enter india easily from all sides, india is indeed the the safest place on earth if u dont consider the internal threats.lol i have to agree that india is good at providing security but not before any incident.its more post incident security.it happened during last year IPL.it happened during the last english tour .it happened during the last aussie tour and luckily for us,no one is injured. we dont want to fight how india is more secure than pakistan.lets get into a compromice.pakistan is 70% dangerous to tour whereas india is 40% dangerous to tour.neither of these countries r that safe

Star as i have already pointed up, when providing security to cricketers, Cinema stars et al.. The Indian goverment will make sure that nothing happens. Terrorists may infiltrate from any where, but they caN never infiltrate the security Ring provided to the stars only we the commom men get affected by these strikes and attacks. SO the aussie stars can be rest assured of their security!
