Swine Flu #4

United States

Here I am again, number 4 in my swine flu series. This thing is getting wild folks. Don't know what the news in your country is indicating, but this thing is really moving. Take caution in your daily activities. Keep close to your heart the people you care for. Take extra cautions when it comes to your kids. There has been a report of this swine flu within 30 miles of my home now. I am debating on keeping my son home from school. It is not worth taking the chance. I would die if I sent my child to school to get this disease. We must protect our children. Furthereing my inquiry on this Swine Flu, how is it going where you live? How is your local community or Country dealing with this epidemic? Are you taking extra precautions? Are you getting worried yet? Do you think now that this is going to get alot worse? Are you scared? Fill me in folks. We need information from around the world here. Let's help our fellow Mylotters and their families stay informed in front of the news. Give us feedback please. Every response is very appreciated by all of us here.

I have been taking this very seriously. I think we should take all the necessary precautions now before its to late. I have stocked up on food, meds, masks and gloves. Washing hands frequently, when sneezing sneeze in your arm not in your hand. Don't stay around people that are coughing or sneezing. Don't go to crowded places. The schools do worry me and I really wish they would close them for a week as a precaution. Then who ever comes down with it could just stay home and get the help that they need. I live in one of the affected states and its very scary.

Thank you. What state are you in? I am in Ohio. I would really freak if I lived in New York. Last I saw, they had over 30 cases. WOW. God help them.

Yes, you may want to keep an eye on this one. I am no expert, but the way this thing is spreading and killing is shocking.

The swine flu seems to spread all over the world so fast. It is very horrible. We have experience the SARS. So we concern about this new infection disease. This morning I learned that Hong Kong found four cases of this disease. I am living in Guangzhou and it's nearby Hong Kong. I hope this disease will be under controlled soon. I love China

No, I am not scared. I figure when it is my time, then so be it. I would rather die myself than be left behind to see my friends and family die. Nature is taking its own course. I only hope that no one has to suffer pain. Here in Germany there are 3 cases. They had been in Mexico. The women is getting better. But the other two are still not well. It is sad. Funny how in times like these, we people seem to be so small. So venerable. People have no control. No real power. People are not all mighty after all. Money has no power anymore. Nature will take it's own control. Take care, have a nice day.

That is right. That is all we can do. Accept the things we cannot change and change the things we can. (That was in a prayer I learned as a child. But it is so true.) Wishing you and your family all the best. Take care, have a nice day.

Good point, Let's all try to remember who is really in control of our lives. Let this epidemic remind us that we are not invincible. God almighty is in charge. Let's turn towards him in these troubling times.

I'm not too worried about it, but I probably would be if it had come that close to my home? Right now I have trust in the scientist and gov. to help us get past it. I have not really heard of anything in this area right now but it does make you reconsider going out anywhere. Luckily I have not really been out much lately and probably won't because the weather has gotten pretty hot around here and I don't like to go out in it unless I have to.

I live in Louisiana (right next door to Texas) and so far we do not have any confirmed cases yet. I just checked our local paper to make sure. We are just keeping an eye on things right now. We are really not that far from Mexico (I live on the Gulf Coast) so I am scared, but it does give me a little comfort knowing Louisiana is currently swine flu free. I'm going check CNN again and see what is going on today.:) Currently as far as I can see there are only 50 confirmed cases in U.S. They are fixing to have another press release soon. I am watching FOX news right now. Today is 4/28/09. It appears that the cases in Mexico are more severe then anywhere else.

I'm sure it will eventually reach us too. Just keep praying. I hope this flu will just die out or end up not being that bad in the long run.

I guess all we can do is hope and pray. I will be continuing my posts on this topic until the threat has passed. Please stay informed through my discussions, and keep me informed of the conditions in your area.

I think children, the elderly, and those that are immunosuppressed are the most vulnerable. That said, I am most concerned for my mother in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area. She recently underwent gamma-knife radiation to zap a brain tumor, so she qualifies as immunosuppressed. She also teaches at an elementary school, where illness runs rampant. Every time a kid so much as sneezes, she gets sick. She is the only one I worry about with this. I am not worried for myself or my husband here in Georgia.
