How do people handle two jobs?

I just landed a second job, three days a week. My only problem is, and I haven't even started the job, is that she wants me to have my other shifts switched around so I can work HER hours. As friggen if! I'm going in tonight just because I don't wanna bail out without anyone to work the shift, but I'm leaving her a note since she wont be in till tomorrow to tell her I'm not coming back. If I'm going to leave a job, it will be the new one over the old one. I guess I didn't think things through. So, to those of you who have two jobs, how on earth do you handle it? Do you make sure both places know you have a strict schedule that THEY need to play by, or do you have something where you work mornings at one place then head over to the next job for afternoons.
