Recently i'm reading a book called Totto Chan-the little girl by the window. A novel for both children and parents.
Totto Chan is very naughty. She will ask the street musicians to the classroom to perform when the teacher is right there teaching. And she will speak to sparrow when having classes and make the teacher very confused who she's talking to. She's grade one, but was expelled
.
Her mother is very great, she didn't scold Totto nor tell her that she was expelled from school. She just says: mother will show you a new school. The headmaster is an excellent musician, and Totto really had great fun there3 responses

This seems like a great book. Quite fun actually. However, I was not like Totto. I was a passive and simple girl and very shy and timid. Totto sounds like a sweet girl.
girl.

Yeah, it's very famous. Written by a Japanese writer and the book has been translated into several languages. It's on must-read list of Japanese educators and teachers.
Totto is very lovely. But it's ok if you don't like her, not all the girls should be the same style, that'd be boring.

Hi lynettebyc,
I wasen't like Totto Chan but I used to get into trouble for talking with my classmate but if I had a little girl like Totto Chan, I would love her to bits as she is a happy child, love music and nature because she talks to sparrows I'm sure they can understand her as I talk to birds in my garden all the time, a girl after my own heart.

Hi, TAMARA, I Love Totto Chan, and also her mother and the headmaster. Yeah, it's ok for adults to speak with birds, we can keep naive at heart, can't we?
Thanks for sharing.

Hi, mjmlagat, how old are your kids? You can really read this book and see how Totto was educated. I do think the headmaster is great. I also sent the book to my elder sister who has just got a lovely baby girl. I bet she'd love it.
Thanks for sharing.
