Recently, we were given a Lenovo S-10 ideapad model from the US. So far, it met our expectations for a netbook. The only downside to it were the battery life of only 1.5 up to 2 hours maximum plus the 2 USB ports located on both ends of the unit. Other features of this model works fine for the average surfer and chatter.

I just purchaes a Gateway laptop in January of this year, and it is the first one I have ever had. It is hard to know one brand from another, that is for sure. I have had compaq's before, but I really didn't like them all that well. I would have preferred an hp over them, but they are more expensive than the compaq. The only thing about prebuilt ones is you have to take what they have in them, as you can't really change them yourself without sending them into the company to be replaced. One compaq I had, the motherboard went out in it, got a new motherboard, and didn't have that one to long and it went out, so in my opinion they aren't all that good of a computer at all.

A 2 hours battery life is too sh*tty for me. What kind of laptop is that anyway? It seems to me that it is designed for checking e-mails and then you have to recharge again. I don't know about you but I prefer the ones that has a longer battery life.

I prefer HP mini notebook. It might be small in size but its big on usability, durability, and attractiveness. Packed with an impressive combination of features, the HP 2133 offers you a full-function with the utmost mobility. Weighing in at just 1.27 kg,with a large 8.9-inch WXGA display, the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC features a durable design with a robust suite of wireless, multimedia and security capabilities to allow users to stay productive.

I currently have asus netbook. It wasn't actually my conscious choice to buy asus, at the time I was just looking for the cheapest computer, because my HP laptop broke down and the repair would be too costly. As you mentioned battery life in those isn't good at all, besides that the speed isn't great, so I have to learn how to be patient, but in general it's good. I like its portability, it's small and light so I can take it anywhere I want. If I have to buy another netbook in the future I would look for a little bigger screen and of course longer battery life.

I have an HP 1000 mini laptop. It's jut like yours with the battery thing, it last only 2 hours but I think they are working or I'm not sure if they already have an available battery that would last 4 - 5 hours. I'm quite contented with my laptop, it has been serving me well so far..
