http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/QAA400568/Avoiding-Swine-Flu.html Most things are common sense things like washing your hands and not sneezing all over your friends. I think that while we should be careful and diligent, we should also use common sense. Don't overly worry but don't go sucking face with all the guys/gals you meet in the pub. Be well....

All great advice, I think once we are all sensible we should be safe. I know I for one won't be sucking any strange faces at least.

We all have our moments of over doing it (mine is the kids) And you can go back to hubby swapping and sucking strangers faces when the illness risk is lower. We'll do other fun things.... like pulling the masks off of fellow Lotters.

Common sense most definitely needs to prevail here. (Actually it should prevail in regards to everything! lol) It's human nature for us to panic at the slightest sniffle or to become overzealous with our own behaviours, but the reality of the situation is that we don't need to be living in a sterilized bubble to be safe here. I was standing at the counter of a service station this morning and the woman in front of me started coughing quite heavily. I immediately thought of the Swine Flu and took a couple of steps backward! I bet I'm not the only one that reacts this way in situations like this either. Anyways, I promise I won't be sucking any face in a pub or anywhere else and I won't be hugging any pigs either.

But we were going to hold the MyLot meet up in The Pub.... I guess we'll just have to settle for full frontal hugs since sucking face is out.

I love Dr. Weil. I read his stuff whenever I get a chance. Thanks for the link, TLC. I think I will drink hard liqu@r at my next pub visit, in case I'm over taken by the urge to suck face. Kills bacteria, right?

Oh, good point. I know it certainly makes the options of who to suck face with look better and better. I'm on his email list too. Read it faithfully. I own every book he has ever put out. I'm a fan!!

I forgot about the great medicine that the pub stocks! On my way now... for medical reasons. *wink* But um... isn't it ussually the drinks that cause the urge to suck face? I'm on his newsletter list. He has great things.

it might also be suggested to do a full background check, especially focusing on medical history before bringing home ANY swine to meet your folks.

Not sneezing on your friends... I actually lost a friend in Junior High over that. Hands were full (books) and I sneezed and couldn't cover my mouth quickly enough. To this day, I think it was an excuse not to be friends, but maybe not...

lol She says her parents told her we couldn't be friends any more. Maybe they were germophobes. Not a clue...

OOOO I hate when that happens. Um... yeah a bit of a lame excuse though if they used it today... *shrug* I might buy it if it was cheap enough.

Just as I was plucking up courage again... Something always happens to dampen my spirits. My son flies back from London's Heathrow airport today. That must be the centre of the world as far as travelling goes - hope he hasn't brought back anything unwanted with him

Just ask him he's been kissing all the girls in the town center. If he says no, then you should be good. I think it's going to be ok as long as we are careful. I worry that some of the people who are getting ill aren't getting treatment because they think it'll just "run it's course" so that spreads it to families.

I couldn't agree more about it not being right that they don't get treatment

I think people nowadays are too germ-a-phobic. Because people wash their hands so much (did you know urine is sterile?), sterilize their kitchens and house and don't allow their kids to play in the dirt, we are so much more susceptible to disease! We don't allow our immune systems to get a work out so they are weak. It's no wonder people get sick so much! I haven't been to a doctor in years and the last time I was sick was about 15 years ago. My grown sons are rarely sick, either. My ex husband, on the other hand, gets sick about 5 times a year--he uses hand sanitizer and is a nut about disinfecting everything in the house.

Hi TLChimes, I think people who have traveled abroad and those who had come back should be quarrentine like how animals are for a month till they are cleared of it, what do you think? Tamara

um... can I quarantine them at my ex-husbands house? Please? I think in an ideal world that might work. BUT we do not live in such a place so I doubt we could do it. Our world is too mobile and fast paced to handle that. Plan B?
