why is the Cathouse show named Cathouse and not Bunny Ranch?

I think in earlier history brothels were called cat houses. I'm assuming because when cats are in heat, they have multipal partners. I don't know this for a fact, but it makes sense to me. As for the bunny ranch, well that ties into the playboy bunnies. I think that would be something about trademark infringement. I can see why they're not allowed to use that because the confusion over the playboy bunnies. Playboy wants to keep the bunnies in a good light for publicity. They've had trouble over the years as being a 'dirty' magazine and they've always countered that the bunnies are good, honest people and photographed as respectable art.

There could be legal reasons; the actual Bunny Ranch would not agree. Or perhaps it is to keep from making kids think it is something it is not although cathouse would not be much better.

I'm glad you asked that because I've wondered the same thing myself! LOL...looks like you got a few answers, which all make sense. Since being on HBO, I've seen them on several other shows since. There was a BBC documentary about two women traveling to various spots in the world to gather information about brothels because they were thinking of trying to open one at home in England. One of their stops was the Bunny Ranch. And just last week, one of the girls was on Oprah talking about her job.

Welll...i think in the past before playboy...brothels were known as cathouses...there werent any p;ayboy bunnies or anything. Wh*res were also known as soiled doves (i wondered why they didnt call it a Aviary or something instead of a cat house)
