Finals time!

United States

So, as the semester is dwindling down, finals are approaching and final papers are coming due. How are you students coping with the end of the semester? How much work do you have left to do? How many finals to take? As for me, I have pretty much everything under control. I have a final for Business Stat tomorrow that I'm really not too worried about. I have a massive integrative paper due tomorrow for my economic development class that I am not even halfway finished... so tonight and tomorrow are going to be pretty tough. I am just relieved that the semester is almost over and I can start having a life again. I am NEVER going to take five classes while working part-time EVER again.

For me I haven't even started to think about finals - I still have a week left of school before finals even start. The biggest thing right now for me is a movie still project that is due tomorrow, an op-ed piece for my media writing class due friday and then a math quiz before the week is over. Then I'm actually going on a road trip this weekend so therefore we can relax before all the studying starts. I'm hoping things go well - I actually only have 3 finals out of the 5 classes I'm taking this semester - so yay!

I love when I have classes without finals :) this semester I had one accumulative final (but I had it 2 weeks before actual final time) and a couple other tests that were "finals," but they were really just like any other test. What is killing me is my integrative paper, I didn't have any tests in this class, just lots and lots of reading and discussion, and I have to write about everything we talked about in class... Anyway, I hope your road trip is relaxing, I might do that once my semester is officially over!

my finals would probably start by the end of may and we get to know the final schedule for the examinations about a couple of weeks before the date. i am appearing in 4 examinations this semester as i took one major lab which treated as one separate course. i have already submitted and scored full marks in the final lab project working day and night right to complete a project regarding fingerprint matching. although this project was tough on us but we learned so much through it and it is extremely fun. will work tonight and the whole day tomorrow on it and submit it on saturday. and after that i still have to work upon a little project but i don't think that would be a sweat. and as for the preparation for the finals, i am well prepared for 3 of the papers (digital signal processing, analogue communication and wireless and mobile communication) and the preparation for the last one (electromagnetic theory) is drastic. EMT IS THE MOST HATED COURSE IN THE WHOLE UNIVERSITY. i fear that i might flunk it really badly but then i am taking the chance because the seniors say that there is always a chance to get through even with low marks because no one ever scores high in this one... so i am just taking their words. good luck with your finals, i hope you do well.

yes!!! it's complete finally. and it's quite good, finds the match pretty good no matter how at what angles the two fingerprints prints are. there were some misses but overall it is pretty efficient!! what a relief!!!

im barely coping. its 2 weeks more until finals for me and im still not in the mood to study i haven't picked up a book or done any revision. i don't know why i have become so lazy when im posting on this discussion instead of picking up my book and reading the words of its page. its like i don't care anymore. i wish i had the same enthusiasm as before but somehow i just don't have it. i just wanna go out all day long and refuse to be cooped up in my house studying. i keep telling myself just study now and i can go out after the exams but its still not working. anyways i wish you all the luck for your finals hopefully you do well. good luck and god bless. cheers love.

Yeah it's tough. It's easy to be motivated at the beginning of the semester... but around mid-term time everything just plummets down. At the beginning of the semester I was doing all of my readings and writing intense notes. By the end of the semester I would just skim through the pages a bit. Hopefully your procrastination will motivate you to get everything done, I know it always does with me!

wow, five classes while working part time can be nightmarish isn't it. i am not studying currently but what i normally do during finals period is i find a cafe, ge a cup of ice blended chocolate and catch up on today's reportingsin the papers first. i will take my time and when i finally feel settled down, i focus on my subject of study intensely for maybe 4 to 5 hours and i take a walk thereafter with a small portion o my unstudied notes in my hand. i will walk 90% and read my notes 10% while taking in the fresh air and my surroundings. i find that relaxing after the intensive. after maybe 1 hour of doing so, you will be surprised how much you can cover and feel refreshed an not more tired. its then up to your choice and matter urgency then for you to decide whether to continue with studyin!!!! if you don't go home and take a nap or rest for the day. if you do, you now feel more refreshed to concentrate once again!!!! oh ya, drink lotsa water in between. goodluck for your finals!!! i hope this helped :) cheers

Sounds like a good plan to stay focused. That is my main problem, especially when writing papers. I decided to spend the night at school because if I'm at home I will find myself watching tv rather than writing...

I only have two more weeks of school and I am definitely excited. My major term paper was due today, but I had already turned it in yesterday, so I'm good. I also had about 3 projects due last week. A 12 page term paper for AP Biology, and a Spanish project along with some other minor projects. I'm pretty much done now and only have to worry about tests and AP exams. Graduation on May 22nd, and I'm excited. I can't wait to start college, even though I'll have even more projects then but I'll enjoy the thrill for now.

That's great that you're taking AP courses. I took AP Music Theory in HS and it gave me credit for two college courses - one of which counted as a science! It was definitely worth it. Congrats on your graduation.

I had my last class today. Next week is finals week for us. I actually completed my last paper last night and turned it in today so I would not have to worry about trekking to the other part of campus to turn it in on Monday. I have one final next week and that is on Friday at 3:00. I'm really not worried about it either as it's an easy class. I'm more worried about surviving the evil roommate that we have and not having any trouble occur until we can finally leave.

At this point, I am finding preparing for summer to be much more stressful than finishing up my schoolwork. I do still have a few tests and papers to do, and I have a work-filled weekend ahead of me, but figuring out what I am going to do this summer is what is really draining me. I want to move out of my parents house and into an apartment this summer, but I am having trouble finding someone to live with. (I would rather not live with a stranger if I can help it.) Also, I still don't have a job, and if I don't get a job I won't be able to afford to move out. And if I don't get to move out, I get stuck living in the dorms again next year, and I will be one of the only people my age as well as the only person I know who will still be living on campus. So....yeah. Right now school is the least of my worries. It seems like the real world has somehow snuck up on me when I wasn't paying attention. :| Kudos to you for managing to work while going to school, btw. I could never do that, and I have a lot of respect for people who manage it. It must be tough. Unfortunately, I might have to work part time next semester if I do move out.

It is tough working while in school, but thankfully I have a great job as a caregiver for some really great individuals and it is really relaxed. We do lots of activities and go out a lot. I don't know how I would handle a desk job or a customer service job... I would go nuts! I've been through a lot of the same stuff looking for apartments... a good friend and I moved in to a cheap and crummy apartment with a bunch of strangers (4 to be exact) my second year of school, it was quite an experience. I found the apartment on some local punk message board. Kinda creepy, but hey, it was $200 a month. It really was a lot easier having each other there... it would have been really awkward if we didn't. Thankfully my roommates were pretty cool, except the one who we kicked out for stealing from our other roommate. Best of luck to you figuring everything out!

I am studying town planning MBA and still have some of last semesters coursework to complete, though all in all, all I have left is 3 assignments, 1 exam and the final project to complete. I am looking more forward to completing the course, and of course summer holidays.

Town planning sounds like an interesting program. Is it focused on inner-city development? I'm still considering what to get my masters in. I'm majoring in Economic Development so I was thinking of mixing it up a bit for my masters program... besides the fact that my school is the only one in the area that offers an Econ. Development MBA and I'd like to get my masters from a different school haha.

We're on a quarter's system so I go Fall, Winter, Spring. Right now I'm in a communications class about Work and the Self. It's very fascinating. I just finished my first applied paper, have one more, and a 10 page final paper. So no final exam per se, but the 10 page research paper is enough. I'm trying to figure out right now how to budget my time so I can start May 1st and devote the entire month of May to it, as the class finishes at the end of June. I'm still not sure if I'll be taking my final two reading classes or not this summer for my reading endorsement. I'm short a human relations class right now, and I'm thinking of taking off the summer to finish that, as well as prepare for my fall class in which I start writing my masters thesis for submission. Good luck on your finals. Namaste-Anora

If you devote a month to it I'm sure you'll do great... I usually devote a few days before papers are due to complete them. I'm a terrible procrastinator.
