Do you smile when you talk to people?

China
April 30, 2009 3:24am CST
I used to smile a lot when i talk to people. But i found out that i smile less and less. I don't know why. Maybe because of the stress of life. I still smile to my friends when i talk, and i try to smile to my workmate when i talk. But one thing is for sure, i will not smile when i talk to my boss, it's always been stressful when i face him. The pressure is coming heavier and heavier. I am afraid i can't handle it someday and i will just go ahead and quit! So what about you, my friends? Do you smile when you talk to people?

Like a good shopkeeper we should never hide all the good things and show it to others. The love that is hidden can be viewed by none. I think you should try to express your love to others.

I beleive that when you smile, you show people that you acknowlegde their apperance. I know when I smile I feel good inside and it just brightens up my day. When you smile you can sometimes hide the fact that you are nervous and timid. I smile every chance I get.

Dear Sir_Bobby88, Maybe your eyes know how to smile. Lol...That's a good thing that you make people feel you are a kind people. Some people make others feel they are sad even they are smiling. That's sad.

I smile when I talk to people, it help make the conversation easier and make people feel that I am friendly. Even I despise the person so much like my boss, I still smile (and curse in my heart ) Conversation is easier when you smile and don't know how to respond.

I do, most of the time, especially if I want to establish a friendly atmosphere. If I'm not smiling, at least, I want to give a friendly attitude so that they will not be offended while talking to me. But still it will depend on the situation, but then again, I don't really talk if I'm not in the good mood.

Hi,vivianchen Yeah,I smile a lot when talking with people except for some special occasions.I think it is polite to smile and it makes people talking with you feel comfortable. You are right, life is hard and you have to face challenges, stress and other things.Be staunch and keep smiling because you won't lose anything while you can regain confidence by smiling. When talking with your boss, you should still smile because it shows that you believe in your ability and he/she will believe in your confidence I think. Have a nice day!

Hi Hxstar, Thanks for responding my discussion.I like your answer, you remind me some famous setence that i like."Don't cry because its over, smile because it happened". "When you are smiling, the whole world is smiling with you, when you are crying, the rest of the world won't changed"

Thanks for the reminder to smile, Vivian. I notice the lack of smiles too since it seems that there are not too many reasons to smile. If I smile, maybe it is self-deprecating lol. Or yes I would smile and cry when I watch TV shows and movies too since I believe in fully plugging into the reel characters to fully enjoy the shows. Otherwise for "real life" I steel my heart most times lmao. That's wrong of course. Before I sleep, I try to let down my guards and smile and the world, loving it in its entirety. I call out blessings for everyone and hope that the world can be a better place. I don't smile for the sake of smiling (though this would be a good start) and I am more like a robot now which responses with a smile when I get triggered by certain control words or gestures.

Hi Lordwarwizard, Thanks for responding my discussion. What a honest answer! It's pity that we will only laugh or smile when we watch TV or comedy, we are hiding our ture feelings in front of people. When i saw the little kid's smile, i feel so happy. Their smiles is come from the heart, they feel like they want to do it and without thinking about others'(or they don't know that yet). Smile to the mirror will be a good start. You will found you look better with a smile on your face.

I dont smile to stranges when I talk to them. That may be because I have to protect myself by being cool. But usually I smile to my workmates or friends.I think smiling to others seems more polite.

I try to put a smile on my face and my voice when I am talking to people but I admit it is very hard on certain days and with certain people. It's difficult to smile when you are sad inside and it's very hard to smile to a person that is treating you badly with rudeness but if you can manage it, the situation is bound to change.

Hi Paula, Thanks for responding my discussion. You are right. If you don't feel happy and you are smiling, people can feel it.

we have a saying in our religion here, i`ll try my best to translate it : it goes like this " to smile in your brother`s face, is a charity in disguise " that`s the best i can describe it, so you see, it`s a win-win situation, researches showed that a smile relieves stress and tension in a conversation, if it is not a fake smile anyways, so i do it, and i suggest you all do it too, makes life a lil bit easier....

No, I'm not always smiling in front of people, I tends to see who in front of me, if it's my close friends or a family, yes I will put my smile so they can chat with me with ease, but if in front of me is someone I don't know I will put my serious face, I can't afford people to think I let my guard down (maybe it's because of my job condition). well I think to smile is good, but I've never forced myself to do it.

Hi KurniawanSurvey, Thanks for responding my discussion. Yes, smile is a good thing, but it depends on where you use it. You don't smile to your competitors when you are fighting with them.

I think it is always great to smile to others and this helps others to forget their stress and we forget our stress also. One of the greatest things about the smile is whenever we see the children smile we forget all our worries. I think children smiles innocently and we all love to see their smile. I also think we should smile to others to make ourselves happy and to make others happy.

it is good to know that you are aware of it and that means you can still do something about it. it would be hard to smile physically if you feel bad inside so why don't you start exercising your inner self to smile inspite of the adversities. tell yourself that nothing else matters, do not get affected by what's on the outside, what matters id how you feel inside. if your inner self or your heart is smiling then it would be easier to smile on the outside. whence, people will react in a different way , including your boss. it works because it do it all the time.

For me it is necessary to smile when talking to people I newly meet, like a new friends, new workmate but to always smile it is not bad to be always cheerful but I am not one of them. I look snobbish my friends says, but I smile of course. I smile when someone is talking to me about a happy moment of their life, but not when they are sharing their bad moments. I smile when I went home, but when I am not smiling it is not because I don't like to smile at all but because maybe I am tired. But i do smile but if it is necessary.

I have always been smiling since childhood and when in school one of my teachers liked my smile so much that he used to address me as Mr Smiley. When you smile the world smiles with you and when you weep you weep alone. No one likes a frowning and morose person because being in the company of such a person one will lose ones mood and spoil one day. When you are in the company of a person who is positive , light hearted and always smiling then you too get in the samee mood and be happy and this reflects on you health which will remain good. My guru has said " be a smile millionaire ".

Hi. Just wonder where our smile has gone as we have become adult! I mean kids don't need a reason to smile to someone and that makes the other one smile as well. I do smile at people when we start and as the conversation goes the smile may turn into a laugh or a grin even.

Hi vivianchen:) well, i do smile a lot when i talk to people. They say that whenever they see me smile.. i tend to make them smile as well...weird though..I think it's my way on how to approach people.. My friends often tell me that they could read me well when I have a problem.. maybe it's because of the "smile". happy mylotting:)
