Mind over Heart and vice versa

Try holding your hands together as if you're going to pray hard and observe your thumbs. Studies show that there are two kinds of people in the world, if your left thumb is over your right thumb it means your a more logical person, you think first before you act and you use your mind over your heart. If your right thumb is over your left it means you listen to your heart and intuitions more. They use their hearts over their minds. Try it, in our family 4 are logical and the other 2 follow their hearts more. Im logical btw.

I did the test & I follow my heart more is what it says. I do follow my heart more, which at times have really gotten me into trouble. As I have gotten older I try to let my head guide me more. My grandmother told me a long time ago even your own heart can betray you. What she meant was when you let your heart guide you too much you tend to get in more trouble. You tend to let others take advantage of you too much & in the past that has been my biggest problem.

the heart can be deceitful, it never listens to logic. The main function of the heart is to feel, to love and it will do its job as long as you let it. If we give full access to our heart to the extent that it controls our lives it can certainly lead us into trouble. The heart is loyal to its function and the only way to restrain it and to train it is to use your minds.

well mine is my left thumb is over my right thumb but i think it is not working to me because in my observation to the attitude, i follow my heart which i dont really think first in a result of being so careless sometimes.

I forgot to include it above. The follow-up observation is your best foot forward. If you unconsciously use your left foot when you step(mind over heart); right foot forward first(heart over mind). The study is not absolute but its amazing to know that we're all different in this simple activity.

Well I heard this thing before this discussion too. What I want to know is this is there any scientific reason behind such behavior or is this simple belief that we hold. Frankly as per this criterion of logical or being the follower of the heart I am a logical type but I have noticed that my reactions depends greatly on the situations. Sometimes I do things which I would say is not at all logical simply because my reaction was quick and I did it at the heat of the moment. For me it seems not to work fully. Does it hold for you fully or sometimes you also stray from it?

I usually stray from it when logic does not work anymore. That means there's no enough reason to support a conclusion and the chances are very slim. Its like gambling in certain situations. That's the only time i listen to my heart or intuition. I trust my instincts and it has never failed me. lol... Although at most decisions, even if its painful if i know that the outcome will be better i use my mind.

I've got heart over mind - it figures because I always listen to my heart instead of going with logic. But then again, I am also very intellectual. Well, the best conclusion out of this would be that I make use of both, it just basically depends in which context I suppose.

yup, the rule is not absolute actually, i guess the study just show how much of ourselves lean on each side from time to time.

Hearts are stubborn! It has no logic at all. The only thing that it knows is to feel, to love or to hate either way it's loyal to its function and it only submits to one master, our mind. I've never heard of anyone who was able to control his heart from falling in love. I think its normal experience for everybody. The only reason that we're hurt is that we fall in love with the wrong person.

yeah, you're right, our hearts really our stubborn. No matter what we do, we usually stumble at all.

I never really took the time to notice that until now. I happen to be the logical one. But I'm sure there may be a few who have changed their thumbs every time they prayed. The point we need to keep in mind is that, never pray for self gratification or for selfish motives. Pray in such a way that is pleasing to God, and the thumb switching won't be a problem

lol... my dear, the activity has nothing to do with praying, im sorry to have mislead you. That's the only way i could think of to let them understand how to hold their hands to perform the activity. I can't switch thumbs, i feel strange. The exercise is done in an unconscious way, abrupt without thinking so you'll know how you normally hold your hands together.

Like i said, the test it not all conclusive or absolute. Its a fun activity though, if you really wish to validate the results i could send you a PM to a website that contains similar tests. Note: Just because a person is left brained doesn't mean the other side(right) of the brain is not functioning anymore, the two works as a team, in harmony, for a normal person to be a well-rounded individual. The test is mind vs heart, heart could mean listening to our intuition and it has several factors too aside from intuition. One is not better than the other for we both need it to function well. There are people who are right-brained but trained their left brain really well and these people are not rare either coz you're one of them. have a nice day!

Hi pickoy, You know, you're right. I am the type of person that by far decides with my mind, using logic, thought, common sense and other facts before saying or doing something and have a hard time making a decision just by intuition. Everytime I place my hands in that position, the left thumb is slightly over the right one, my logical explanation? maybe because I'm righthanded, but I would like to read the results of those studies and see what they're conclusion was based on.

The results of this activity is not absolute and non-conclusive. But if you wish to know more or to validate if the test is correct, i could share you a website that contains more studies regarding this. But im not sure if posting it here is allowed coz that may be spamming in my part. Please just send me a PM, thanks have a nice day.

I was totally expecting mind over heart as that's the type of person I am but according this test I got heart and intuition over mind. But may it is right as I think that I'm a different person inside than outside and I tend to follow intuition a lot.

I do not know if I did it right but I tried doing what you said and I noticed that my left thumb is over my right thumb. Yes I did it three times but got the same result. I guess I am really a more logical person because I really use my mind more than my heart.

your welcome, i'm glad you appreciate the post. There are alot of activities to validate if the test is accurate or not. you can search for the right/left brain activities. Is it okay to share those in mylot? or to post links that will lead people to it. thanks. have a nice day.

ma'am i got this from a school activity... my professor was really bored back then and then he decided to change the subject and he shared this activity. The class had become interested with the right and left brain theory until we've come up with a lot of discoveries and they are really fun to do. I have tons of them but this is the easiest one to post. lol...
