What does that mean? Do we have a car traffic controller who knows where we drive and how fast? Are we a blip on his radar screen? I want that job. Have you ever received a ticket because the radar caught you speeding? Where is that darn radar? Okay, just wanted to know, since no one on our desert road actually hold to the 55mph rule.

Sometimes they are on traffic lights and sometimes just ordinary poles, they don't want people to know where they are so they can't just slow down in that area and speed the rest of the time.

I know some traffic lights have cameras so you can't drive through a red light. That one will cost you $400. But I've never heard anyone get a speeding ticket from a radar. Well, at least they give us warning.

I guess they do it to make people more conscious of their driving habits and therefore more cautious driver especially if they think that they could be getting a speeding ticket even if no cops are around..I guess cops can't be everywhere 24/7 so they use these radars to help them.

Traffic-Rules - It is duty of all traffic to follow rules, to keep traffic moving smoothly
Hello my friend gtargirl Ji, We too in our country in certain METROS, this system has been installed, where by RADAR keps an eye on over-speeding vehicles, takes photo-graphs with vehicles registration details etc. where by Traffic-police can do their job to take proper action against all offenders. May god bless You and have a great time.

What happens is that before someone drives a car an exact length along a route, say for a mile and knows how long it takes from points A to point B. That is calculated along with other speeds, so the police will know if you went over the speed limit. The radar is hidden in a ghost car, that is an ordinary car not a police car that is hidden behind a bill board or someplace where it is not seen. And the police usually do not bother about someone just a little over the speed limit. They go after those who go way over.

I live in a fairly small town and most of the police cars have radars in them - when the officers are bored they set along side the road (hiding best they can often) and 'catch people'. Only thing is most people know those 'spots' so slow down when nearing them - sorry to say it's mostly out-of-towners that get caught.
