There has been the first official reported case of swine flu in the state where I live, I know that theres been some other discussions of this swine flu thing, but I'm really concerned that this thing will spread even more, and I have family that do a lot of work in the public community, and I worry that they might become sick, and they say that our health officials are working on getting a vaccine for this virus, but how long will that take??? I'm really hoping that they get this thing under control and very soon, becuse its hitting a little to close to home, and as I said I'm concerned for my familys health. Are any of as concerned about this virus and your familys health as I am?

I must say that this is one of those things that is hyped up by the media and causes a lot of worry for nothing. Yes the swine flu is going about and it can be deadly, but so can all the other influenza viruses, many of which we have faced before. Yes, it does make people sick and that makes headlines, but people get sick from the flu regularly and there are many with poor immune systems who don't make it. The swine flu isn't any worse then any other type of flu. Those dying from it aren't those in America (but mostly those in Mexico where they aren't as healthy, don't have good nutrition or good water, and often have no medical care whatsoever). So, relax, wash your hands, and live your life.

I have had nighmares abought this. They say a vacine could take 6 months!! Also that they are not especting it to die down. If you are like me and want real info go to these websites : CDC, WHO(world health organization) and MSNBC. I have been checking these daily since the first case was anounced in the usa. We are on level 5 pandemic aleart right now. If we hit leavel six My kids arent going to school or any were else till its over!

If this gets to a level 6, you should stay home for like 180 days, and don't leave your house. Prepare for everything, canned food, candles, lighters, everything.

I told my hubby that I will pull the kids out of school. He just rolls his eyes.I am also going tommorrow and stock up on a few things just in case. Its not like it will go bad if nothing happens. If something would happen I would have it on hand and not worry abought having to go to the store and maybe bring it home.

yes it is a big worry, all the flu's seem to be getting stronger each year and as they have said there is no real cure for this one if you get it full blown, I am thinking of gowing back onto my apple cider vinegar as I believe nothing comes near you when you are on that stuff...lets hope they can keep it all under control.

Over half of my second grade daughter's class was gone with flu yesterday, and there were enough students gone that the school's emergency call system was activated to say that they're still having classes anyway.. LOL Best I could do is send her to school with some sanitizer, and an extra bottle for the teacher/other students, and the importance of coughing against her sleeve or shoulder instead of her hands since school doesn't allow her to wash her hands every time she coughs. Since germs can't be seen, I simulated the spread of germs using some washable paint, a few pencils, and a couple of water bottles.. Needless to say her eyes grew QUITE large lol

actually apples, the swine flu has not yet spreaded to my country, thank God, but I am sure there is nothing to be afraid of, as long as you: stayy away from pigs, stay away from the places pigs have been, from the people who have been infected, and they spread very violently, so it is important to wash your hands whenever you sneeze or touch anything and try avoiding rubbing your eyes, HAppy-Mylotting, I hope this information helped

Yes I understand what your saying, but this swine flu is no longer exclusive to pigs it has now become spreadable to humans, someone in my state has already become ill with it, that means that I or someone else could get it, just by being close to someone who has it or sneezes near me, and if they dont know they have it, because they say that the swine flu symptoms mimic the same symptoms of regular flu, Iv never been near pigs or eaten pigs so I dont think that I will have to worry about catching swine flu from pigs, but now I have to be concerned about getting it from humans.

Hi apples99,the H1N1 Flu I think has been over dramatized by the media. My b/f works in customer service and has contact with people all day long and I reminded him when we spoke last night to remember what to do to try to avoid infection or any cold or flu. We are both in good health luckily. I am not too concerned because back in 1988 I had a type A influenza before.I didn't pass it to the b/f I had then even though I was staying with him and he took care of me when I got the flu.

Where I live they are supplying tamiflu as the first line of defence to those who have either been infected or maybe suspected of being infected. These people are responding well to it and some are now home.

I think this swine flu to be honest is one of those phonemona that has been blown out of all proportions. You should have no need to worry as your family did not suffer from bird flu or mad cows disease, therefore this so called epidemic is even less significant generally speaking. I also think that this disease has been man made by some chap in a laboratory. Though to be perfectly honest, if there is really a disease out there at large, I am sure that in months (sooner rather than later) some corporation will win a large multi national contract for the supply of the cure for this problem.

yes of course I concerned about my family too, I have a brother who work as sales marketing at some telecommunication company, and my nephew have to go school everyday, but excessive worry will only worn you out, and give you "I'm afraid" aura which will make people around you worry too. I think the best thing to do for this case is to keep our health at top condition, even when doctor cannot make medicine for flu, our body can fight it.

While I am concerned about this new flu, you should know that the bird flu was worse, and that never got really far. This either means that: this flu will mutate more and become more strong... or: this flu will die out soon. If it doesn't die out, 1/3 of the world population would get infected, and about 10% of these people will die (if not given tamiflu). Only thing we can do is wait and see what happens, and, of course, follow normal procedures like washing yours hands, avoid touching mouth/eyes/nose, etc.
