"Revolutionary May 1: A day when we celebrate the great revolutionary milestones along the way to that vision. The first great attempt of the Paris Commune, which lasted but 80 days in 1871; the Soviet Revolution in the former Russian empire in 1917, which inspired the world for 40 years; and the Chinese revolution which achieved victory in 1949, and went on to the highest pinnacle yet reached in 1966, with the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution. Each of these revolutions was eventually defeated, and the system of exploitation restored, even if the label of “socialism” remained for a while. But these revolutions contain rich and essential lessons— in both their overwhelming achievements as well as their secondary shortcomings and mistakes—lessons that must be absorbed to advance further today."

Let's not let a little thing like 10s of millions of murders get in the way of the quest for "brotherly love". What's a little gulag action when there is equality to consider?

Well that headline was definately an attention getter. I can't imagine having " Murderous Dicator parties". I guess you could have everyone dress up as their favorite (or least favorite) dictator. But I don't see it being a very happy social event.

"This is supposed to be a happy occasion, let's not bicker and argue about who killed who!" :~D

Today is actually Beltane for many. http://www.strangehorizons.com/2001/20010423/beltane.shtml
I know I brought in last night Wulpursnacht with celebration, and today I'm enjoying the day with family on this joyous day. Welcome Lady and Lord and all your fertility.
Namaste-Anora

Yes May Day is many things to many people. To me it's just the first day of the month of May... and the first day of inland fishing season... but I wish you a great day of May Poles and celebration.
I posted this because a lot of people seem to think that communists of today aren't about Soviet Communism... but this isn't from hardline communists in Russia.. it's written by Americans... Americans who consider Lenin, Stalin, Pol Pot and Mao Zedong heroes who the US should emmulate.
