Is animal bone powder used to make sugar white?

Is it really true that animal bone powder is used to make sugar white.. so does that also mean we eat a percentage of animal bone powder along with our intake of sugar.. it would be a darn thing if it is so.

Either charred bone or activated carbon is used as part of the purification process of granulated sugar. It is not used in the production of raw sugars such as demerara, muscovado, and turbinado. Since it is used only in the filtering process and the end result is pure sugar, it is very unlikely that any bone ash is actually consumed. If, as a vegetarian, one had any doubts, however, it would be best to only use raw (brown) sugars rather than refined (white) sugar. http://f0527361.seriousurls.com
