I can't even really remember the last time I had a good nights sleep...And to top things off I have high blood pressure as well as anxiety so lack of sleep is not helping that any that is for sure... I have no problems falling asleep it's staying asleep and it's getting to be way to much for me to handle these days...I'm feeling pretty much exhausted on a daily basis any suggestions of what helps you have a good nights sleep?

Have you asked a doctor about sleep apnia (i don't know how to spell it). Sounds like you might have it. I have trouble sleeping because my mind races and races and races and races, never slowing down. I'm feeling pretty exhausted on a daily basis too. Sometimes I finally get to sleep and can sleep 20 hours. But then I don't feel better.

I think having your mind race happens to a lot of us. It really stinks that when your trying to rest is when your mind seems to think of everything you worry or stress about! Would be so much easier if we had a sleep mode button!

I think that is mostly my problem and the doc has wanted to put me on sleeping pills but I'm on so much medication as it is so I've decided against it...I think to much when I lay down then weird dreams seem to happen lol!

Have you talked to your doctor about this problem? Anxiety can interfere with your ability to stay asleep and, as you're already feeling, that's hard on your body. You may need to use anxiety or sleep medication for awhile.

I am currently on anxiety medication...I take it when needed....My doctor has wanted to put me on sleep medication but I feel I'm already on way to much as is for other health reasons and now I'm a single mother of two kids one can care of himself as he's 16 but the other is 2 and half and she can be un predictable...I'm trying to find some natural ways to cope!

Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime tea works pretty well with helping you to fall asleep but I don't know how well it will do in the keeping you asleep department. Along with the norms, like cutting out caffine in the evening, you could also try drinking warm milk. I wish you the best of luck.

Seems like my whole life has been one big insomnia ride! They have natural sleeping pills over the counter. And when I say natural, I do mean natural. You can find them in places like Walmart or Target, as well as health food stores. I forget what my mom sometimes takes... Also, there is a thing called Sleepy Time Tea. Another mylotter recommended it to me. It's in the regular tea section in the store. I bought mine at Walmart. And I guess my last tip is to spray lavendar aromatherapy on your pillow or sheets. That is supposed to help induce sleep and hopefully give one peaceful slumber. When I did the lavendar thing it was like heaven for me.

The only things I can really suggest to you I already have because we talk on the phone every day LoL ... -have a bath at night to relax your muscles -Drink tea that helps you sleep and/or warm milk -See if you can get a massage once or twice a week -Ask the Doc about non habbit forming sleep medications OR call the Health food store and ask them if they have any herbal sleeping aids! That is all I can really think of! Best of luck getting some sleep and sorry your going through this, it's not fun! I had lack of sleep for 3 months when Angelina had her colic really bad, and I was soooooo happy when the colic was gone!

Well, my friend, I read all of the other responses and in my opinion, no one gave any helpfull hints about this problem, that I haven't already tried, and didn't work for me. I have the same problem as you. I have no problem falling asleep but I don't stay asleep for very long. For me, I think, it is menopause, and I am having severe hot flashes and they wake me up, even though I have my window open and a fan blowing on me all night. And it isn't warm outside yet. I did have this same problem for all of my life but now it is even worse because of my hot flashes. I was on hormones but the doctor took me off of them because I was on them for 5 years and that is too long. So now for the last 3 years that I have been off of them, they are almost unbareable. What I do when I wake up, every 15 minutes, is stay in bed and just lay as still as I can and concentrate on relaxing my body. I start at the tip of my toes and work my way up my body and really make myself relax. I never make it past my hips, I don't think, I don't remember, because I must fall asleep. But then 15 minutes to half an hour later I am awake again. This goes on all night long for me. One of my friends told me to take a teaspoon of benalyn or some other cough medicine, before going to bed, as they have stuff in them to help you sleep. She says without it she would never get any sleep. So I tried it and it didn't help me but maybe it would help you.

I have an odd problem- I sleep all day and am up all night. It started with insomnia, and I was always too tired the next day to do anything, and then I started sleeping during the day, and pretty soon my days and nights were all mixed up. I know I have stay awake until my internal clock resets itself, but I always end up going to bed in the middle of the day and being wide awake by 8pm. It really sucks! I know I should be grateful that I'm getting 'some' sleep at least, but I get lonely because there is no one to talk to at night anyway.
