To those in the Philippines, what do you think of the 2009 summer?

Are you bummed out by all this rain? I mean, we haven't complained enough about the heat yet. What about all those picnics, beach trips, etc. we planned? I was in Tagaytay yesterday and while we still had fun in Paradizoo, we had to forget about our picnic on the grass and while the rain did stop for a couple of hours, we had to slog through the mud and the animals all looked bedraggled. How are you dealing with this "wet summer" we're having? Do you like it or do you think it's a pain? :)

Well, i welcome the rain and the dark clouds... it heat was quite hard on me... since i tend to sweat a lot... but i was hoping the sun come back even for just a few days... the farmers i work with are desperate for this because they need to dry the corn they just harvested... and that is impossible without the heat of the sun...

I'm the first one to complain about the heat too (I'm allergic to my own sweat), but the rain's messing with a lot of things, such as the work of the farmers, like you said. Hopefully, this is just a brief spell of rain (thing is, it's already May and May is when the showers usually start happening)... Thanks for the reply. :)

No. because the rain and the heat is from the Lord. The weather is unpredictable only God knows weather it is rainy or sunny day. This is not a pain but it is a blessing. So just enjoy it. the global warming is also cause so that there's too much rain along the summer and sometimes too much heat from the sun. Because the ozone layer is very thin now so that the heat from the sun is very hot and it's cause cancer. Many people cause this abnormalities of the weather because of their wrong doing in the Eco system, the tree was cut off so that flood has grown their no shield, the water from the dam was so dirty because of the people that are use it for their trash can.So i enjoy summer with the presence of the lord and making another thing that suite's the weather. I been to the beach two times this 2009 summer an it's raining but i enjoying it.

Hmm, if it's caused by global warming, then isn't it our fault? All good things are from the Lord and some that are less so are merely allowed by him as they're consequences of our folly (as is the case with global warming). Like I said, I can enjoy the rain. I'm just wishing it doesn't take over what is supposed to be the dry season. Good for you that you can see everything as a blessing. Thanks for the reply.

I'm not really a fan of summer, but I really don't like "wet summer".my body has a lot of temperature adjustments to make because of the unpredictable, drastic changes in the weather.I am taking a lot of medicines so I won't get sick from the hot-cold-hot again weather.

Abrupt weather changes can really make people sick. That's why many get sick at the beginning of the seasons. Too bad you need medication to adjust. I usually make do with vitamins and immune system boosters to make sure my body can adapt well to the switches in temperature. Thanks for the reply :)

I like summer and i really miss summer in philippines... because summer here in dubai it's very painful.... the temperature here is 40 degree and that is minimum sometimes it reach to 50 plus.... while the humid reach 100%.... huh.... you can't enjoy the summer here... many foreigners here went back to their homeland during summer season because they can't take the heat... ;-

Sorry to hear you're having an especially hot summer. My husband grew up in Dubai and he's mentioned that it can get kiln hot at times.

for me, rain is romantic but sometimes it's boring, but falling down of it while you are in happenings, i don't think so if can enjoy it,it makes you annoying.

Yes, there's something romantic and cozy about rain - at the right time. When it comes pouring on your parade or picnic, not so much. Thanks :)

I want to go the beach but the weather is bad. I can't feel the summer fun yet because I haven't started going to vacation places. We have been busy lately during the weekdays. On weekends, we just stay in the house with my family. It's quite boring though. But the summer is not yet over, I still have time to enjoy.

I agree that this summer of 2009 is kinda weird because of early rains. We were not expecting this, are we? A lot of our company outings were cancelled all because of unpredictable rains. We were set to have an overnight stay in one of the finest beachest few hours drive away from Manila only to be postponed due to non-stop rain that day. The rain is such a spoiler!

yikes, it was no fun at all having summer rains. rains are welcome though during night time so the air is a little cooler. But we can't predict and control nature as long as it doesn't cause so much havoc on the people's lives. But this summer 2009, rain or no rain the fun continues and i haven't completed yet my summer fun. So have fun, enjoy, rain or shine. LOL

hello kababayan! Hmmm...We're not affected too much about this heavy rain because there's no such bad weather here in Davao. Still, summer here is so awesome. Anyway, you can visit Davao and there's plenty of nice beaches here like Pearl Farm. If you can't afford to go to Pearl Farm, Blue Jaz is nice too. It's a resort in Samal Island. It looks like Pearl Farm but it's very affordable. I've there last week with my family. It's really nice, I can assure you that. Have a nice day!

Rain does bring relief, but maybe it doesn't have to be so friggin' continuous. Hope it'll let the summer lovers enjoy themselves some more. :)

well i think that it's better, cause it's not hot at all. and maybe it's because of the global warming crisis. i'm not much into going to the beaches or private resorts this summer. i'm just not in the mood. but i'm still having fun with this so called "wet summer". it seems that i've nothing much to do except, mylotting all day. and it's fine with me. happy earning!

I like rain, and I don't like summer because it makes me feel lazy. It's so hot in the summer that I cannot do anything. I know it's a time to relax but I'm not the type who goes out of the house for the beach. I'd rather stay at home and slack than go out. It's abnormal to be raining too early this summer, even I expect to rain in June.

Rain's okay when it's not causing all sorts of devastation. The thing is, this time it's messing with all the typical summer fun people expected to be having... Thanks for the reply :)

We were in Tagaytay just two weeks ago and we also had bad luck with the bad weather. Although we were still able to enjoy the beach for a while, we couldn't fight the strong tides enough to stay in place. We also didn't get the tans we were planning to show off after we came back from the trip :P Thanks for the response on my discussion :)

last summer was not that fun for me because of the rain, the Swine flu scare and because i have not traveled as much as i wanted to.but still, i'm thankful because the past summers of my life were awesome. i still have lots of summer to enjoy in the future so it's okay with me.

we did not really complain about the summer having a lot of rainy days this year... because we dont have any plans last summer, since we have a financial crisis here... lol... anyway, my family still enjoyed the summer, playing in the rain, everytime it rains hard here in Cavite, they would go outside and play including my youngest who is 2 years old...

I rarely left the house this summer. But I had lots of fun facing the computer & watching DVD's. Maybe others get to go elsewhere, but I never thought that I wouldn't envy them.
