I made a cake last night and after I ate a piece of it, I looked to see how many calories were in it. I couldn't believe it, there was a whopping 1,071 calories per serving. I would have never guessed their would have been that many. Just think about it, if you eat a little more than two slices that's all you could eat all day without gaining weight. I guess you couldn't eat this very often, I think I will give the rest away. I'm not overweight and I want to keep it that way. How bout you do you ever check how many calories is in something? Do you eat it anyway?

I have been trying to watch calories lately. I try to keep it around 1500-1800 per day. I have been amazed at the foods I did not suspect to have so many calories but they are loaded with them! I thought there would be some calorie free food to eat somewhere!! Wow, have I been surprised?? Even a pickle has like 10 calories; 2 Tbl of salsa has 10... who eats only 2 Tbl of salsa???? I need like a cup.. you know how many times you have to mutliply 2 Tbl to get a cup??? I have been amazed at how many calories are in common foods as well.

So see, you wouldn't have been able to eat very much more than the two piece of cake ether. lol I can see how some people gain so much weight now! I'm like you I can't eat just a little tinny amount of something. I guess what saves me is I don't eat all them fatty things all the time. thank goodness

Yep.. one piece of cake and like one bite of meat and I'd be done for the day!! ... and hungry too I might add! :) It's funny how much fat is in foods too. I don't worry with it as much because I eat fish and nuts and avocados and things that have a lot of fats in them, but they are good fats... Too bad there isn't really "good calories" and "bad calories"!

You should using suitable ingredients on your cake. I think the calories source is the sugars. If you use less calories sugar, it would be helpful on your situation. And you should use a good butter. Good luck and have a nice day. Happy mylotting.

Thank you for reminding. I have not been checking my calories intake. I like cakes very much. Chocolate cake is my favorite dessert, after lunch and after dinner too.
