There is a reason to hate it...

London olympics 2012 logo - This is the logo for the next edition of Olympics.

If you find this logo strange then you are not the only one thinking that way... Even if you hate it, let me tell you, most of the people out there agrees to you. When I first time had a look at it I couldn't believe that this is the LOGO for 2012 LONDON OLYMPICS! It doesn't suit anything, let alone suiting the biggest sporting event of the whole world. I don't know what are the sponsors of 2012 London Olympics up to!

It is very odd looking like some sort of broken up peice of something that I dont have words to explain.

Hi. I think you can use these words 'broken pieces of colored glass'. Thanks for your response dear.

I like both of these comments, myself. "Broken up pieces of something" and "broken up pieces of glass" are both cute phrases, lol. Like I said earlier, I wish they would do something about this logo, myself. Like one of the other mylotters here said, I liked the colored rings better. Let's just hope they change it before 2010. Kathy.

i'd say that logo is hideous! who are the members of the current olympic committee who decided on that? maybe that would shed light to everything. i wonder why that logo was released early...
• India
9 May 09
Hi. It is not released 'early'. It is a trend of revealing these things in the closing ceremony of the last occurrence and that was when it was released as well.

Maybe that is just the initial logo... there is still time to change that... and three years is a pretty long time... I must agree that the logo is not at all that good... too simple that even a gradeschooler can create something much better... at first sight... i thought the shapes represent the continents of the world... but i was obviously wrong since there are only 5... and the world has more continents than that...

If it is a success in all the three cases then it is not bad. Is it?

I don't think it's getting changed. 2 years ago someone won an awwwwful lot of money for designing that! They've already started selling the tea towels.

Good Morning- Sorry to interrupt, but I blew up a picture of the logo and from a distance the logo reads "2012". If it was designed to get your attention - success! If it was designed to create a discussion- success! LOL! If it was designed to confuse SUCCESS!

I know what you meant. Actually I read this via the net and I have to say that I am impressed to some people's "imagination". Actually I can't think something is wrong with it anyway. Perhaps this is why different people can see the same thing differently. I love China

Hi. Yes, everyone has their own taste but still, if someone can't find anything bad about it, I would say they are really nice to almost everything.

Haha, even the color itself is a bit....you know.....inappropriate??? And what's with the shapes? Reminds me of LEGO. But whoever came up with it sure have a good reason so I guess we'll just have to respect whatever is the meaning behind.

Umm, lets just say HATE is too strong a word, so I’ll put it down to incomprehensible. Yes, that’s exactly what I find this logo to be. To my simple understanding, a logo would either have a well-known animal or plant or place of a country so that the country is easily recognizable, or it can have a symbol of the sport it represents with colours of the country in the background, or some theme associated with the integral motives of the games and so on…but this is like promoting abstract art and sorry, I am thick-headed enough to be able to insulate myself from anything abstract.

I can't say I like it or don't like it, to me it is just another logo. I have seen some strange logos and after hearing what the reason for the specific logo was, it made sense. I believe the people behind the logo are far more intelegent than we are when it comes to logos, just as I know far more about paving that bilions of others around the world. You know more about a lot of things than bilions of others do and some of the things you come up with might seem strange to others but make sense to you. I have learned that our people are getting more critical by the day. We are very quick to critisize something before we know anything about it. We are a very negative generation and I believe that is one of the main reasons for us being an unhappy generation, always seeking things that will amuse us because we don't see anything good in things anymore. Live and let live. Concentrate your energy on those things that will satisfy you and give you pleasure, ignore those that you want to critisize. To critisize is not constructive but destructive in most cases. Whether we like the logo or not, the Olimpic commitee of London has aproved it so it must mean something. It is not about the logo, it's about one of the most spectacular events in the world, for our enjoyment. Blessings

For London Olympics read: It's a Knockout, 2112 Style!!! Cadbury's chocolate are one of the sponsors ... Last I heard, the circles were going to be replaced with a line-up of burgers and donuts!

Hi Raj, just take it easy. A logo is a logo. There is no necessity that it be all attractive. it is just a logo - a sign, a symbol and it really symbolize the sports. I do not find anything oddity with this logo. Just believe me, i am not just arguing here man.

Hi. It is nice that someone is okay with it. I have been associated with two organizations till now and both of them were really really small. But still both of them are really touchy of the subject of there logo or symbol. I saw the meeting they had on this very thing and they always said something good should be represented by something good only.

hi coolmailraj! :) About the 2012 olympics logo... I couldn't believe at it alaso that they would really use that logo. I was used on seeing the traditional olympic logo which has 5 rings.. different colors etc etc. Even if you would say that this logo would be abstract.. in my own opinion, i think it just doesn't suite the olympics well... as from what I can see.. logo is the number 2012 itself.. made in abstract form. But I think if they would think of a logo, they should consider more of what the event is for, and not about the name of the event itself. happy mylotting :)

If that logo has a meaning then i'm sure the one who made it has a lot of explaning to do since it looks nothing but pieces of shapes with dull color. I don't think it's a map because it'll be a lousy map if ever. I don't think we have to decipher the meaning of that logo since even children participates in Olympics even as spectators.
