Do you spy on your neighbors?

I don't like to think of myself as a nosy person, but today I caught myself spying on our neighbors across the street. It was a complete accident. I was just trying to shut the window over the kitchen sink, but found myself peeking out the curtains to see if the neighbors were still in their yard across the street. They had been playing loud music all afternoon and I thought there might be some kind of party going on. For personal reasons, I like to know what other neighbors are doing around my house before letting my daughter out into the yard for play time. Guess that's part of being a good mom. You gotta keep your eyes open and sometimes that means being a little bit nosy. Are you nosy about what your neighbors are doing? Do you think the world would be a safer place if more people took an active interest in the affairs of their local neighborhood? Have you ever noticed your neighbors spying on you?

About the only time I would be spying on my neighbors is if they were female and sunbathing in the yard I generally don't pay much attention to my neighbors unless they are getting rowdy or loud. I don't recall any of them ever spying on me, maybe because I never do anything that would entertain them

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I can be nosy but for the most part I really try to keep to myself. I mean, if I hear loud talking or I think that someone may be doing something that will somehow impact me, then I want to know what is going on. I like knowing what's going on so I can be safe and be prepared. Now, I will admit if I am bored, I do get a little curious but for the most part I keep to myself.

no,they have to really do something obnoxious for me to pay attention to them. the way my neighborhood is now with all the new people(meaning less than 10 years),everybody pretty much keeps to themselves. now,the house full o' college drunks last summer, that's another matter. i think the whole neighborhood was watching them last year.you really couldn't avoid it.

I love living back in the woods for this very reason! No one can spy on me, and the nearest house is a good 1000 feet away from me! So other than a quick peek I've never spied on my neighbors.

Luckily I live in a spot where I can't see any neighbors to worry about what they are doing or vice versa. When I lived in town, though, we had neighbors with some really bad children who were always screaming bloody murder right outside of the house. I always thought they were too young to be outside playing by themselves, so I caught myself playing babysitter looking out the window every time I heard a bloodcurdling scream. Oh, and then there was the whole baby monitor thing. I heard a lot of arguing that came through our baby monitors. Luckily I switched channels, so I didn't have to feel so weird/awkward.

Im a very nosy person i loe to know what other poeple are doing around me. Also on countless ocasions i have seen my neighbors "spying" on me countless times. I think its just something you do when you own a home, your always curious about what your neighbors are doing.

i do keep an eye open to what is happening but i don't spy, well at least I would never call it spying , spying is when you hide the fact that you are watching someone..neither do I consider it spying if my neighbours keep an eye on what is happening here , rather I appreciate it! Now if they were trying to see inside the house that may be different! xxx

No, I don't spy on my neighbors. I don't like to nose into other people's business. It's just not something that I enjoy doing, not even to people that I'm close to, that I actually care about. If someone wants to tell me something, if they want me to know something, then they will tell me in their own time. When it comes to my neighbors, well, they are just my neighbors, and I don't really know them. It's not my place to meddle into their lives.

Where I'm living now most of the neighbors are either related to us or my husband has known them for years but I still keep an eye on some of them. I don't consider it spying to be aware of what's going on in my neighborhood. Back in Maryland I kept an eye on a couple of the neighbors because they were problems. I don't believe that any of our neighbors spy on us but, then again, we don't do much of anything worth watching.

Hi, To be frank, i really spy on my neighbours. It is really not of my active interest but just being precautionary. I really keep myself out of spying on their personal issues. I know few neighbours spy on me. Especially one opposite to my home! Cheers, forcashksd

I would say yes if something is really weird. Well its good as you can do a favour taking care of your neighbours house from thieve. Would you say its wrong if you suddently hear like the roof of your neighbours house is being broken and spy. Its just like what you did. Dont feel bad about it Thanusha

LOL @ spying at the neighbor!! I mean I do look outside at times and see what's happening in my street or maybe I see my next door neighbor going out or the one across the street watering the plants etc, etc but not spying! I mean it's natural to look at what's going on around you and it's not being nosy, if you just happen to look and keep looking at the scene! Also, if you aim at being careful with your child, that's another story because I don't consider that spying at all.

i think what you've done is not spying, you are just curious of what they have been doing and just to make sure that you are living in a safer surroundings. of course we have to know the people that surrounds us especially our neighbor to make us safe day and night. spying for me is just like doing something that prohibits the right of the other person.

I have done it. Although my neighbors were in their backyard screaming at the time, indeed I have done it.

I won't do such thing to check up my neighbor like that. If I notice things happen, or weird, I might just call the police come on over and check it up. I won't do it myself. That is creepy, don't you think?

In some cases it could, in general though no I don't think it would. Odds are if something really dangerous is going on it's not going to be happening anywhere you can see from your windows. But if it's something like a bunch of rowdy drunk people in someones back yard then yeah, it'll help. On the flip side, no, I don't think checking out what's going on is nosy at all. It's heaps more responsible than some parents I've encountered.

I do think it is a good idea to keep an eye out on your surrounding. I don't really spy. When my daughters were young, I kept them in the yard unless I could keep an eye on them. The neighbors having fun and partying were not a concern for me. Not too long ago, we did have a very creepy neighbor. I am so glad that I alerted my daughter to him and told her to keep the door locked when I was not at home. A couple of weeks ago, he got arrested. He was a child molester. A few months back I saw another neighbor punch his daughter and turned him in. it's not spying...it is just being aware.

I don't "spy" on my neighbors but I do look around to see what's going on around me. Being hearing impaired, I can't hear everything but with my new aids, which are wonderful! they do help me a lot more than the one's I've had before and I can hear things going on around me but still, being so used to using my eyes as my ears, I still look around to be sure all is ok. However, I do feel like we're being spied on and we hate it with such a passion. Our next door neighbors like to walk in the woods which is right beside out back yard and we don't like that especially now after the falling out with them. We're putting a privacy fence up because of that and hubby is going to try using our pine trees to do that which will save us a bundle.

I won't do that. I don't watching my neighbor, only occasionally my neighbor brought in a lot of people, or there were a lot of cars parking outside, and I need to see what is going on. On most of time, I keep my own business, and my neighbor keep theirs. We don't bother each other.

Hello beauty We should always like to move peacefully, and for this we must have good neighbors around, but all are not lucky, i had a nosy neighbor, she has nothing to do much, so she will come to our house and start aslkin me my daughter in law about purely personal matters, this i dislike.. Thanks for sharing God is great, have faith in him, I wish you a nice day ahead. Kalyani ‘Namastey’. .
