Halo 3: ODST (formerly named Halo 3: Recon)[4] is a standalone expansion of halo 3. In the game, players will take on the role of a UNSC Orbital Drop Shock Tropper (ODST) during the events leading up to halo three. Although the gameplay of Halo 3: ODST bears a strong resemblance to previous Halo games, the player does not assume of Master Chief as in the Halo trilogy. Instead, the player controls a lone UNSC soldier in the city of New Mombasa, Kenya. Since the soldier, known as an ODST or Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, does not posses Master Chief's Advanced Amour capibilites so the player is more vulnerable to gunfire players are forced to act more cautiously. The game takes a more stealthy step to the game which will also include an open world environment.

This seems like a good branch off of the Halo Trilogy. However I don't think it will compare to the original Halos. I am planning on buying this game and give it a try cuz I think it should still be good. And if its a stealthy kind of Halo that will be cool cuz I liked the Splinter Cell games.
