Growing up in foster homes

If any of you were kids that grew up in foster homes how did the kids in school treat you? The reason I ask is because as a child I was Lived in numerous foster homes and when the other kids at school found out I was usually the one the others picked on, To me i was special because I was chosen to live in someone's home, but they were not my real parents and it was rubbed in a lot. I remember when I was in high school and a boy asked me to the dance, Only later to find out that the only reason why he did it was because he and his friends felt sorry for me and that one of his other friends had put a bet between all of his friends that he would not ask me. Did any one else go through this? What were your experiences as a foster child?
