I got a female German Shepherd who is just over 2 years now and i was thinking how would i know she got pregnant. I got so many wild dogs around my home and somehow she gets out of home unnoticed and i am worried she might have mated with someone. So is there anyway to know that she might be pregnant?

Hey argrim! I think that you will know soon enough! Her belly will start getting bigger for one! She will be getting fat and you will surely notice! You will know believe me! Don't worry about it! Dogs know what to do when they are pregnant! She will let you know! When she is ready to have her puppies if she is pregnant, she will tell you in her own way! You will notice before long by seeing the changes in her personality too!

If you are a serious dog-owner there is a duty you should do to your dog: You should her to the vet once in a month for a health checkup. While doing the complete checkup, the vet will point out if she is pregnant or not. If my dog gets pregnant(Three month ago- six pups, she is a happy mom)she just lays back to rest every now and then. If you are a real friend of your dog such inactiveness and other odd activities could be easily tracked. And this might help you identify whether she is pregnant. But all dogs are not the same I just told my own experience. Regards, AJ

she will first drip spots of blood if she is pregnant if she is ready to mate, then you won't know for a while but you will notice she seems to be a little bit fatter than normal, and then you will start to see her nipples when you used to have to look real hard to see them before, and the her sides will start to get really big and then you will see her getting bigger and bigger and her nipples really showing and hanging down.

Her belly begins to bet bigger after a month and her nipples become swollen but it can be a case of false pregnancy. You can be certain if your dog is pregnant or not by going to the vet and doing an ultrasound. When she is on season it is better to keep her locked inside. Otherwise spay her if you dont want any puppies.

i'm sure u could take her to a vet & they could tell u but they'd also charge u a high dollar, probably. i would probably just wait a while & you'll be able to tell.

You can take her to the Vet or you can just wait and see. Knowing the nature of female dogs if she is getting out she'll be PG. You should have interesting puppies. Blessings
