A girl sold for 100 Dollars! Can you believe it?

India

In one of the states in India, a girl was sold to a couple of foreigners just for 100 Dollars by her own parents. A local resident informed the police and the child was rescued. Such a shame! I wonder what made them sell their own daughter for hundered dollars. It was grinding poverty- they say but poverty should not let a parents conscience go wild like a savage. Okay even if I could get 500 referrals for a PTC i would never sell my daughter for money. What is your opinion?

They simple need counseling, are they still on their proper minds trying to sell their own daughter for a $100. Poor girl, maybe it is not her true parents thats why, they sold her out without conscience. Or maybe, this is just one of the result of too much poverty.

COunselling? Yes that may do. But they are really poor. I think the daughter is actually a problem for them. In countries like India, girl child is given low preference and are ill treated. Especially dowry systems and all. They could be a nuisance. Anyway I appreciate you for responding and sharing your mind

It is not uncommon in my country. The parents are selling their child for money as they have o capacity to feed the child.

I think people should not sell other people because it is their life not their, even he or she is their child. I also beleive that people help no right to sell or controll other life. Even if they are the parents, they could only give advise to help their child throught difficalty. It seem so bad that parents sell their child just for a some amuont of moey. May be they did care much a bout their child futuer, or they may has some resan for doing that we do not understand.

a girl - a ray of hope
It is such a shame to have such things in India. But this is a fact and believe me it is not the first time. In India there has been so many instances in the past . Recently there was one more incidence when the baby girl who acted in 'Slumdog Millionaire ' was sold to some Shekh from Arabian country by his own natural father but due to intervention of people, that was not possible and now police is looking into the matter. The main reason for such kind of crimes is poverty where parents are unable to bear the expenses for upbringing of the child . Also there are many more issues related to a girl like education and marriage. There are so many reasons that people don't want a girl child .......... and it is such a shame.

Hi, I feel so bad when i c my country in such news. Its a shame that even in this 21st century we have so much poverty. Then i c people spendind millions in one night in some night club my heart pains to no end. I feel like iam doing nothing for my country. On the other hand i dont get when people cant afford a child then y produce them. I always c poor people carrying small kids in India and it makes me sad that how they r going to take care of them. Its a shame. And we all atlest the educated Indians and the people who really love their country should take the responsibility to educate people about family planning and restrict such illegal activities. Cheers, Tutul

Even I heard of this Slumdog millionaire thing. Really awful right? I never expected them to behave like this. In fact the people who I have mentioned here are illiterate, but they are not! They acted really cheap by trying to sell her. And yes, I am really happy with your response.

That is terrible! But them again I almost think that it is a standard to do that. I am not sure if that is illegal but if it isn't then their government had to make it illegal.

If you live in a third world country, it won't be hard to believe this story. Poor people just try to earn their living by any kind of things. But if you live in countries like US, UK or other high power countries, it is just hard to believe such poverty happened. That is why they said Slumdog Millionaire is a bull, me myself found the movie is very relatable in my country.

India seriously is a messed up country. First parents kill their daughter for $20 and now another set of idiotic parents sell their daughter for $100.. It seems they don't value the lives of their women there and are treated like dirt. I have watched a number of documentaries on India and it really is a sad country. People there live like slaves and are in constant bondage. Somebody needs to rise up and say enough is enough. I think women in India are one of the most beautiful women in the world and its a shame they are not valued. What kind of people who claim to be parents sell their child? I understand giving the child up for adoption, but selling your child, not caring about her welfare, that is just pure lunacy.. Those parents should be punished for that...

Untail and unless we dont know any thing about the situtation we can not say anything about it, because heir are two situation in the human life think if the parent want the child to be good in her/his career, they want her daugther to have good food, clother & study. they cannot proved this to they child & they want to give her and taking money it can be for them to eat food and some are really cruely sale they kid for them we need to punched in such a way that the should get scared of it. malleswari

it's not surprising anymore... here a baby is sold for $50... shocking right? there is a place here in my country which i know where women just get themselves pregnant so they can sell the baby right after they give birth to the little ones. why would they do that? poverty of course. and lack of education. it really is a pity, but it happens...

This is crazy. I don't care if I was on the edge of starvation, I would never sell my daughter. Imagine what she was thinking while being sold.

Never ! I commiserate the poor children whom be sold by their parents. what a bad fate is waiting for them ? If parents have no money , why give a birth to children ? they can't provide themselves ,what about children? Only for selling them to exchange money ? Since life is hard for parents, why let their children in it ?

This almost happened to Rubina Ali, one of the children who starred in Slumdog Millionaire. According to the British newspaper The News of the World her father tried to sell her - but for a lot more than $100. He thought she was worth more "because she was famous". Unbelievable and shocking to us - but apparently quite widespread in certain parts of India.

The end is near. OMG, these girl is not an animal! how come these parents do this to her. The fact that they don't have money for their food is not enough reason for them to sell their daughter. This isn't good for their own family as well. What is your government doing for this cases? Don't you have NGO's or maybe a welfare development system in your government? If I'm like Brad Pitt I'll adopt this child.
