why a person thinks about himself first?

If you do not think about your self first, and take care of your self you will not be able to help, or take care of any thing or anyone else. I think that most people will think about the other person first when their is a emergency and they jump in to help without thinking about themselves. Like if you see someone drowning most will jump in to help with out thinking about themselves first.

I guess there's a lot of bad information out there about people being self-centred and thinking only of themselves. Well, I agree, it's nice to focus on other people from time to time but, there are a lot of those self-help books that state that it's a good idea to put yourself first from time to time and you shouldn't feel guilty about doing that. Before you can help others I guess it's important to help yourself so that you are in a good position in order to help others. Andrew

well this problem is not of today but it exists every where, every relation is based on needs and every thing is self centered.but some for some relations u can even sacrifice ur self , like in case when ur in love with some one , the love can be any thing , like a brother sister relation. or when u love some girl very much.

yah it is a mechanial world and we are going to be more selfish. everybody seeks to fulfil their own needs first bcoz all of us love him/herself first. thanks.
