Child Abuse Leads to Adult Abuse

I find it very sad how many children are physically and sexually abused by strangers, family members and even there own parents. What a terrible way to grow up. Even emotional abuse. I new a family that one day while at her house she asked her 3 year old son to get a pair of pants for his little sister. When he was unable to get the 'correct' pair of pants from the closet she belittled him so severely. She told him he was useless and would never amount to anything. I wanted to cry for this little guy. I have several friends that have shared their childhood with me. They were hung by there feet in the basement for hours. They were starved and sexually abused for years. One friend, her mom knew she was being beaten by a boyfriend but she wanted to be in a relationship so badly that she chose to overlook it. I see the long term damage done to these women. They end up in abusive relationships as adults or they do the abusing or they become very promiscuous and find it next to impossible to be in a committed, loving relationship. They think so little of themselves they think they deserve the abuse or at least they don't deserve to be respected and loved by someone. It is so very sad. It takes a lot of inner healing to get through this but they have to recognize the wrong thinking to begin getting help.

What a sad subject to put on Mylot! I personally don't know anyone who has been sexually or physically abused. Neither was I. I was verbally abused and that has taken me years to overcome! Thanks to friends and lots of therapy I have over come it! I just wish more people who were sexally and physically abused would get help! Some don't think they need help, can't afford it, son't know where to go, think they can do it on their own or they just don't need help! It is a situation that isn't to get much better in the near furture sad to say!
