I don't know how to cook but I want to study. Do you have any tips on that? It is really very expensive to study at culinary school... I am thinking of reading the cooking dictionary where you read all the terminologies about cooking stuffs before learning anything in cooking... please help..Thanks

For me, I learned to cook from my mom. I learned simple cooking first like sauteing vegetables. That's the easiest. When I married, i really have to learn how to do other cooking. I borrowed a cooking book from our library and started doing it. I just followed the steps written. If there are words i can't understand, that's the time I consult the cooking dictionary. At first, it's seems difficult but if you're interested and you have the perseverance then you can do it. Try to experiment. that's the secret of cooking. Goodluck!

Okay ThankS! So you spend a lot of money just for experimenting?

I learned from my mother, as most of the replies said. But I have also learned a ton from TV shows, like from Giada Delaurentiis, Ina Garten, Rachel Ray, Laura Calder. The Internet is helpful too, try watching on YouTube. And like I said in another discussion, you have to experience it yourself to learn, so reading wouldn't do all the work. And experimenting doesn't have to be expensive. I started with some pasta, tomatoes, onions and some herbs. They're things you can buy for less, and you can even grow them yourself :)

I've learned to cook at the age 12, as a kid I do enjoy watching my Mom and my Auntie when they are cooking and start from there. Now I do cook everyday for my Husband which I do enjoy doing. Try to watch cooking shows, you'll get some idea and some good recipe from there and you can also check some recipes online that you might want to make.

I love to cook and have been cooking since I was a little girl, standing on a chair next to my Nonna, making dinner. Pasta, sauce, sausage, meatballs, eggplant, on and on and on! I encourage people who are new to cooking to use their intuition and don't be afraid to be bold! Recipes are good for beginners, but are one progresses they can be used simply as a point of reference, or a beginning. New chefs may want to stick to basics, but if you have a feel for it, you'll go very far!

I learn cooking from my mother. I watched her every time she cooks in the kitchen. It's fun and the learning is precious.
