I hardly finish a book in a day or a week... So I want to try speed reading.. But i don't know what school is offering a good one. But I heard about Tony Buzan Speed reading. Haven't tried it.... Does anyone try any speed reading course? Or read it alone? My goal is to read 100 books per year... But I only achieve 5-10 books a year. =( Please advise. Thanks.

I wouldn't advise speed reading. Although it's claimed that you can remember the reading just as much as reading at a slower pace, I've found that is not the case. I've also found that speed reading makes it more like a chore than an enjoyment, ruining an otherwise interesting book. I only speed read for text books when looking for specific information and not when I mean to retain the information or to read for pleasure.

Sylvan Learning Centers has a very good 12-lesson course in Advanced Reading. It is basically a speed reading course. It is very good. I saw much improvement in the student's progress and I also saw my own improve as I learned the program too. The way they teach the exercises you would think it would not help, but when you do the exercises properly and then return to "normal reading" your speed will be greatly improved!
