some teachers have morning classes, some have afternoon, and some morning and afternoon. some schools requires going to school from mondays to fridays some up to sundays..sometimes classes are finished but the teachers have to stay in school for paper works, prepare for a school affair...... so in short teachers render more time in school than they should... then how come they dont have overtime pay? do think its fair?

Me too! Same feeling!!! We have no pay for overtime work, only can take a rest in lieu of time. You can apply to take a holiday when IT is not that busy! Unfair is everywhere in this world. So, just relax and find the fun in our life. God bless us! ^-^

Hi, the teachers' incomes are been improved in my country recently. As teachers, I think they want students to learn more and glow up healthy. So, they must pay out much more to the education career. I hope the govenment can take active measures to solve the problem.

hi there my friend, well here in my country particularly in my school, i think that teachers have overtime compensation. Well I think that they don't have back then, but our school administrator changed the policies and gave our teachers overtime compensation which they pretty much deserve, because, they work hard and being a teacher I think is one of the hardest jobs to do, you got to have a lot of patience and i admire my teachers! happy earning!

At first this question should be refer to your country policy, as you say above,it is real some unfair, but in my country, teachers job is very good, they have good salary and have long holiday, now the goverment is doing the thing to improve teaching.

Well we are yet not a organised industry and not a lot which fits in the labour kind of thing. As far as I know overtime concept is there in the government sector. Otherwise who gets overtime. I know of no private industry who gives overtime to any of their skilled labourers. I think this overtime business can be very unfair. There are two kind of people -- one who are efficient and hardworking who will use their worktime for work. They will finish their work in the stipulated time frame. May be a little extra if some un controllable delays occur. And second there are people who waste their time chating and gossiping and therefore take much more time to finish their work. There is no justification for any extra pay for such kind of people. And then how is the boss going to decide whose overtime is justifiable and whose isnt. So the blanket no no for overtime.

I dont work for the government. I work in this field. And I am not a person who will just sit back and whine about the fact that teachers get paid less. If I am so bothered of the pay then I would find out about the rules and the schools which follow the rules. I would develop my skills to suit that level and then go for it. I had a boss who was a stickler for rules and I came to know a lot of rules from him.

I think it is not fair not to have overtime pay while doing extra work. But as I know, when I was a child, my teacher do have overtime pay. It is a policy to encourage teachers' work. And then teachers will have passion to work hard later. You can give some suggestions about this on meeting. Then next time, maybe, the teachers in your place will get their overtime pay.

Even before the economy in the US got as bad as it is now, there were plenty of professionals, not just teachers, who put in way more than 40 working hours a week without overtime pay. With the technology available, like laptops and cell phones, there is hardly a time when I get to go home and be with my family without the promise of a couple of hours work waiting for me once the kids are in bed. We've let this happen to ourselves, and now we're all afraid to buck this trend since the economy is so bad that we don't want to be the ones let go because we aren't willing to go the extra mile, when our co-worker is. Whether you think teachers are under-paid, over-paid or somewhere in between, they aren't alone in having to work outside their "normal" hours without the expectation of more pay.
