Television Sitcoms.....A Thing Of The Past?

Some television sitcoms I can think of from the past up to today include I love lucy, I Dream Of Jeannie, Bewitched, Alf,Full House, Family Matters, Home Improvement, Roseanne, Bill Cosby, Touched By An Angel, Friends, Reba and many more of course. But it seems there are no decent sitcoms on television anymore other then syndicated reruns. Is sitcom television a thing of the past? It seems like reality television is taking over. I enjoy reality tv but I miss sitting down and watching a good sitcom.

I do have a couple of sitcoms that I watch on a regular basis that I really enjoy. Big Bang Theory, How I met Your Mother, and Two and a Half Men, just to name a few. I hear what your saying though. The networks really don't give these shows a chance to find an audience, even if critics rave about it. If a new sitcom or drama, for that matter, isn't getting the ratings after a couple months, it gets canceled, or at the very least not renewed. These shows are just so much more expensive to produce than the reality type shows, and the reality type shows get the ratings.

LOVE The Big Bang Theory. How Jim Parsons who plays Sheldon didn't get an Emmy nom last year, I'll never understand.

I do as well. Some of the ones you named (Home Improvement, The Cosby Show, Reba) I actually have on DVD because I miss the days of the clean, but FUNNY sitcom. I also used to watch Full House and Fmaily Matters all the time. Right now the only sitcome I watch is The Big Bang Theory on CBS, and while it is hilarious, it isn't as clean as sitcoms used to be. Of course there at the end Roseanne was gettin' her vulgar on!

Sitcoms went the way of the dodo many moons ago. I believe this happened when Family Matters went to CBS, and TGIF was dismantled. I'm not sure if anything can bring this interesting television medium back to life(other than voodoo.)
