A very good friend of mine is thinking about baking cupcakes for a fundraiser shes having and she is trying to come up with some unusual ideas for flavors... SO! I thought I would ask you good people what kind of ideas you have? We came up with Key Lime Pie, Chocolate Covered Cherry, and Lemon Cheesecake...anyone else got some great gourmet ideas???

What fun having a fundraiser! How about an ice cream sundae in a cone? (You don't use ice cream at all lol) You take a regular (flat bottomed) ice cream cone, and put banana flavored cupcake batter in it. Then bake it as you would a regular cupcake. When it's cooled, you can put on a whipped cream frosting (or a cream cheese frosting) and drizzle a little melted chocolate over the top of it. Into the top peak of the frosting add a fresh strawberry. I've made these before for school parties, and kids parties and they were always well recieved...plus they're cute as heck lol. Not really gourmet per se, but most people can't resist them because they're baked in a real cone and are novel and different from the usual 'just another cupcake'.

You're welcome :-) I've found over the years that kids and adults can't resist them, so I thought it very well might be a good seller at a fundraiser. Tell her good luck, I hope she raises wads of dough (pun intended lol) to help the cause she's working for.

How about rocky road? Would be really easy to get mix marshmallow and nuts with devil's food batter and for some reason people really love marshmallows. I have mixed bits of peppermint candy in chocolate cookie batter before with success.

That does sound pretty tasty!!! I wonder if we could do chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes by chopping up dough and putting small pieces in batter...hmm...

I wonder if you can layer the batter? If not you can always marble like a cake.

Sometimes it is the decoration of the cup cake that brings the attention to buying... I write a blog about ideas for decorating cupcakes - in my profile if you are interested. So many things you can do with a little cake - really amazing actually. And often, they could careless what it tastes like...as long as it tastes like cake... but they are captivated with the toppings! Good luck tho on the fund raiser... hope it is a sucess!

Im not very good at coming up with my own ideas, but I just borrowed the perfect book from the library! It is called 'The Cupcake Doctor'. I had gotten several recipes from 'The Cake Mix Doctor' before and loved them! So I decided to check out this book as well. There are some really great ideas in it - even Key Lime! One of the great things is that all of the recipes start with a box of cake mix and a few other things. They are quite simple to make. I havent made any of the cupcakes yet, but I would assume they are good because the Cake Mix Doctor recipes were good. Good luck with the bake sale!
