I am glad we have a theater in my town, but I know they are becoming rare. For that fact I do enjoy going to it and try to go at least once a year with the family before they become too extinct. We had a bad winter full of ice and during the winter storm the screen they show the movie on was damaged. I was afraid they would close the drive in down over it but they repaired the screen and have opened for the season!

We have some Drive-ins around but most of them are closed and I think that Winchester and Stanton,KY being the closest that is opened right now. Which is 75 to 110 miles away from me. Well over a good 1-1/2 to 2 hour drive.

I used to go to the Drive in all the time with my kids till I married my fourth husband 25 years ago and haven't been to one since. I would love to be able to take my little seven year old daughter to one since she has never been to one.Hopefully we can before it is to late.

One was built here about 4 years ago, it started with just two screens and now there are three. It is open everyday with no exceptions and for $6 you can watch 2 movies. They have 4 playgrounds and a stage between the first two screens for bands. They have had car shows and sell discount ticket by the hundred to companies to give to thier employees. I do not suspect that they will be closing anytime soon because where else can you see two opening night movies for $6 and get to take in all of your own food. oh yeah, kids under 4 are free. I love our drive in, it is actually the only entertainment we can still afford.

WOW, your drive in sounds most awesome, I wish more like that were around so folks could out and enjoy themselves like they used to. Ours is just a small town drive in with the one screen. You're not supposed to bring your own food and drink, but I don't know of anyone who doesn't. LOL.

What part of TN are you in Jo? I know they have a drive in right at the KY/TN border and then there is our's but we're about 60 miles south of the border. They are charming. I hope our's never closes! And to drive by it in the evenings and see their customers chances are he never will!

Open air theatre. Nope we do not have any one of the kind here in any part of the country anymore. There used to be open air or drive in theatres when I was a kid. But now with the population explosion and land becoming so prescious it is a thing of the past. A extinct entity at it.
