May I ask a question?

I just started a discussion asking fellow mylotters to describe themselves using three words, I received a response to which I was in the middle of replying to and discovered the discussion deleted. I know there were no other discussions with the same title. Any idea as to why that would be? It happened in a time span of about five minutes! I'm not complaining, just wondering WTF? Just trying to learn here....

Heck I can see a notifier in my mail from you but I've not got there yet Maybe it was a repeat (the content not the title) or poll-type and that is why it is no longer there. This will go to paola because it is a 'personal issue for mylot'. Hey you are stuck as 'Paula' now

I am sticking to responding and commenting for months now It appears to be slightly safer - though best to know the rules so as to avoid those which might go even when responding. Take care and have fun!

you are probably right there. Mylot deletes certain kind of post and seldom deletes responses from post so it is safer to respond than to post. I survive in here using that strategy. I seldom create my own now.

wow thats a new thing i heard as all i know mylot usually delete it it violates their TOS and though i didnt get to see that discussion but what you describe then i dont think it violates the terms. It doesnt have a referral link nor it is joke or receipe and as you said there is no other discussion which is with same title. I can never understand what makes mylot delete discussions and everyday we see countless discussions with same content and if it was so then 99.99% discussions would be deleted and hardly any discussion would come up which doesnt have nealy same content. We got countless discussions on swine flu, neobux and god knows how many topics.. if mylot deletes all , there would be hardly anyleft.

If they ever do get round to deleting the repeats then there would be a lot of quality left to respond to which is now sadly underneath all that garbage you mention. Maybe one day, who knows

I know, weird isn't it? I may query it with them although I doubt I will receive an answer. I'm not kicking up a fuss, it's no big deal...I just wondered what may be going on. Oh well...Life goes on! Thanks for your reply agrim!

I would have no idea, but some strange things do happen here. They have some words that are taboo, maybe a reply had one of those words, so the discussion was scrapped. Just a thought. However, to answer tour closed thread, my three words are thoughtful, sensitive and reliable, and to add one more, loyal. Good luck paula.

Mystery has been solved! Thanks to young sanuanu here! (from the guidelines) Start game and poll type discussions. For example, discussions like “How old are you” or “Let’s see how high we can count, I’ll start with one”. The words "Want to play?" were not the ones I should have chosen. I am wiser now. Thanks for the three word description, nice one!

Sorry, no idea. I have had hiccups and lost discussions, but I can't say any have been deleted.

Thanks for the info, but sounds trivial. Maybe you can rephrase the question.

Thanks for responding, sanuanu came up with the answer: (from the guidelines) Start game and poll type discussions. For example, discussions like “How old are you” or “Let’s see how high we can count, I’ll start with one”. In the discussion I said "Want to play?" that sealed my discussion's fate! You live and learn...

I have seen your discussion but before I could response to it, it has already been deleted, have read the contents from my email. It is sad that such a cool and harmless discussion be deleted as I don't see anywhere that infringe the regulations of mylot. It goes so fast before others have the opportunity to say about the discussions. I have had mine deleted once even after it has been in the digest and has about 50 responses. Basically, yours should have been okay but my only guess is the words used may not have gone down well with mylot admin. This is only my wild guess. They may have other reasons. Whatever the reasons behind the deletion, I think mylot has so far maintained the top notch in quality and strictness and it is what make it stand out among the best social sites in the net. I hope this incident would not demoralize you as you are not the only victim here and many of us have undergone such an 'undemocratic' treatment to our discussions many times over. Every action has its reason and hopefully it has taught us to be more alert in future and keep the context of our wordings within the safety zone of mylot.

Hi zandi. The reason for the deletion was to do with this part of the guidelines: Start game and poll type discussions. For example, discussions like “How old are you” or “Let’s see how high we can count, I’ll start with one”. I used the words "want to play?...Big mistake! At least I know better now...

Paula- Who knows, it's Mylot Administration. It could have been that the nefarious Mylot Police that I've heard about have been around marking threads. It could be that Mylot Administration saw a duplicate and just deleted without looking. It could be that such a topic simply doesn't create heartfelt discussions, or so looked upon by administration. Though, I think that people could lengthy such a discussion by telling you the three words, and then saying why they picked those three words specifically. (There's the teacher part lol). Don't fret, it's only one thread, not to worry. Namaste-Anora

Hi Anora, thanks for responding. (from the guidelines) Start game and poll type discussions. For example, discussions like “How old are you” or “Let’s see how high we can count, I’ll start with one”. I used the words, "Want to play?" in the discussion and that's what did it! Thanks to sanuanu I am now wiser and will put more thought into my discussions!

Paula- Well, today I woke up to find that I lost 20 posts over night. I'm not even sure which ones were deleted. I now do not qualify for a payout, in which I had qualified for already. I stick away from threads that I think will be TOS violations, and I keep a record of what threads I start, and none of my start threads have been deleted. Oh well, I guess I'll have to work really hard again tonight and see if I can find threads that will not be deleted. Namaste-Anora

If I were to describe myself in only 3 words, I would have to say Kind, Caring and Creative. These are 3 things I would actually Love people to see in me and say about me if they were talking about me as well. Sure I have my issues with Health, etc. but at the same time I know that when it comes to caring about and wanting to help others this is usually a first priority on my list.

Hi Tina, thanks for responding. I think the three qualities you used to describe yourself are pretty accurate. I think you are also very strong because the way you handle the challenges in your life is to be commended and I admire you greatly. Thanks again for dropping in!

i saw your question deleted, maybe there some rules in mylot, to be honest i have not read the whole T&C at mylot, but luckily i didnt get any of my discussions deleted, and about responses i dont look that minutely, nor i note my postings number so seriously...the only thing i notice everyday is my earnings, and if that decreases, i come to know

Ho eshaan, thanks for responding. It has baffled me but you live and learn, I might find out one day why it was deleted, I was just a bit shocked that's all! I only really look at earnings and don't worry too much about ratings and post numbers either. Thanks again!

I have figured out why it was deleted now so I know what not to do in the future!I made it sound like a game which is not allowed. It wasn't really a game I started; I just worded it wrong. Thanks smileonstar!

If you read mylot guidelines then you would come to a point where mylot says: Start game and poll type discussions. For example, discussions like “How old are you” or “Let’s see how high we can count, I’ll start with one”. I read that discussion and in this you said at the end: "Wana play"! So, it was a game, wasn't that?

AH! Now that makes sense! Thank You so much for that sanuanu! Of course that's how it would have come across!! Now I get it! That is all I wanted to know so that I don't do it again in the future! Diana did mention something about a poll discussion but when you mentioned game it made more sense, thanks again pal, you're genius behind your avatar!

Bravo sanu! I think that even though a disucssion has gone, you feel better when you know the reason for the deletion. It makes it better for you. I hadn't opened the notifier when I responded up there but later I did and indeed that 'wanna play' nailed it I guess. Never mind - all's well that ends well

yes, even I got very surprised when I saw it getting deleted and it was quick too, wasn't that? Many of us didn't get a chance to respond either. All's well, if it ends well. The curiousity is over, isn't ti?
