When I was younger I didn't care too much about how much I spent because I was living off my parents money. Now that I started working, I find myself having to save and careful with my money so that I have enough money to save for houses and car instalments. I have only $400 per month to spend on food so I eat only 1 big meal per day and then light meals whenever I am hungry. How about u guys?

Hi Koharuksumi, I have never had monetary help from my parents even when very young so I have always worked and budgeted very carefully. In my teens I had one job to pay the rent one to pay for food and bills and also worked in a pub for my social life and spending money. I have never had credit and so if I want something I save for it so I have no debt either. It is good that you are still managing to save some money. Keep up the good work. Huggles. Ellie :D

Well i'm careful enough not to make large damage from my savings. I may damage it a bit but not devastating enough that i won't be able to save anything. I'm quite careful especially when moving the money i shouldn't move. I really don't buy unnecessary stuffs and food if there's food at home. I only invest on stuffs which i would use often and has a very high resale value.

I am working on this habit too because spending excessively is not gonna help unless we have an overflowing flow of income. Good point!!

I agree we are more careless about spending when we are spending our parents money. But Earning my own money has made me just a bit more careful. Just a bit more. I am still the impulsive buyer. And usually It always happens that what I like is on the heavier side of the price range.

Yes, me too. It's hard to be not impulsive. But I have to control or else it gets out of control..

Nice tips on managing money. I always thought of doing what you did but I will feel so guilty reading the list of my daily expenditures as it may be filled by wasted money on useless things.

I grew up in a single parent household so I understood the importance of money. When I was 16 and got my first job I always had money and saved. I bought a brand new car at the age of 19 with a 700 credit score. And then I had about 15,000 in credit. When I moved to Miami witout a job my credit went down and my complusive shopping had to stop. But now I have a new job and I am getting back on my feet and everything seems to be working out.

hi dear friend, i use to be very careful and calculative with my money. i use to spend a lot but then n the same hand i always use to have in mind that i have to save something evey month, whatever happens and spending on all what i want , i saved a decent amount . when i got married i spend all my money on it, i didnt took the help of my parents in anything. i managed everything on my own , everything , each and every expense was done by me and paid by me. i looked after everything and it came out well. i felt very good and proud too becasue i managed everything one hand, nobody to even run also for me. every booking by me. but now i dont do any thing, i am not in a job, i am full time house wife and i full time mom too so now taking care of money does not fall under me, it is in and under my father in law and mother in law.

Hey there aweins, I really respect people who support himself or herself. For me, it is totally different having to depend on your ownself than depend on others and to me it is a leap in maturity. Taking care of your child may be the biggest responsibility that you ever had. Wish you all the best...^^

its really cool if your parents support you for your needs. i miss it (hahaha) right now i have my own business and of course i need to save some money for my foods and things i need everyday. though i live with parents of course there are times you need to give them some money for foods and for house needs.

Yes. If I have extra money, I will definitely try to help my parents. But since I am just beginning my career, it's a lil bit hard to do that. i hope I will find another means for extra income.

Money is to be invested wisely. I never wasted money though my dad sends plenty of it. i try to save them and invest them in banks, fixed deposits, bonds and books. I know the value of money as one month i spent all the money in buying a new bike for me. then i had to keep asking money from friends whole month. but now i use it wisely and save for emergencies. i never spend too much over my girl friend and ask her to pay her bills herself. because i know even she is not going to help me when i really need money.
