The one who bears the injustice without any protest or the one who is in position to stop injustice but wont do it? I mean the first one is poor guy who has no means to fight back and second one is powerful government employee like police who see someone beating a poor weak guy yet turns his face away.

hi agrim, i don't think there is any doubt who the coward is in my opinion it's the goverment official who turned his back. that is a shame that things happen like this but i imagine we'd all be surprised how often it does.

for sure the person who holds the power but does not use it to save the suppressed is a coward. the poor or the one who has limite powers or the one who lacks means o fight back is not coward but is helpless and at this time if somene is witness to the injustice and has the means to protect, then this person must help.

Hi agrim! Clearly they are both cowards and the one who has the power to make important changes and chooses to do nothing is the bigger coward. To do nothing means not only allowing an injustice to occur but doing his or her position the injustice of not utilising one's authority to its full extent.

To me nether one of these would be cowards, what these types of people are to me is ones that doesn't care about anyone else or the things that should be important.

This is an interesting question. I feel it is the second. I think this because they know the right from wrong and they are in the postion to know the difference. Serve and protect, so if they don't stand up against their colleages and defend a person; then they shouldn't be in that job. I think the first person needs to stand up and protest, but as stated, he has no means to fight back with. Either by lack of how the system works or lack of knowledge to his options. There are people out there that feel helpless in that aspect and just go with whatever his handed down to them - but, again, a person of authority would know the difference here and instead of persecuting them, they should give them all the tools they need to protect and defend themselves. I look at the authoritiy figures in both these instances as being a coward. For one turning a blind eye to a person in need (which is true in both cases) and another for unjustly prosecuting or beating a person and not being there to do what is right (again, present in both examples).

Agrim- I think that the person who is in a position to do something, regardless of the situation, and walks away is the coward. I think it is up to all to show their fellow sentient being compassion. I don't think anyone should have to bear an injustice. In our society we should be moving away from that. Namaste-Anora

Coward is a judgment call made by others. In these situations it is easy for outsider to make that call by just observing what is happening, But this is also a dangerous thing to do unless you have all of the facts which is something almost impossible to get. In hindsight don't call anyone names unless you know all the facts. Which you can't so don't .

Thanks savypat for the response and no i wasnt calling anyone name but if a police officer is turning his face away when someone is beating someone, then there has to be something more than a simple reason.

I think both are cowards too. But they may have their own reasons why the first one does not fight back and the other for turning his face away. I think that it is alright for us to be cowards for a certain time in our lives, however, we must also struggle to put an end to this. There are a lot of ways of fighting back. One may inflict physical harm to the one doing the injustice or restrain from that and bring the matter to the proper forum, like the court. Have a nice day!

More coward is the one who sees a crime but did not do anything to stop it. I guess those who have the power should do their part but if they did not then they are not worth the pay they are getting. So let us always be pro-justice!

both in my opinion not because we don't have money then we just let things go or because you are in a government position that you don't help poor people. they have to exercise their rights as a citizen and as a government official. sometimes it's just that people are too blind and no self confidence
