I guess you could say I got to know my best friend slowly. 25 yrs later we are still getting to know each other.

It's kind of sad now that I think about it but my best friend has been my best friend for about 12 years and the past two years we got to know each other even better. I guess you can say we were very slow at it...

A little of both. I met the woman who has been my best friend about 30 years ago when she moved into the apartment below us. She had a daughter who was a year older than my son who was 3 and who loved to torment her by trying to get her dirty...and he was usually dirty 5 minutes after setting foot outside. We didn't get along well at first because of that but eventually we became good friends and have gotten a lot closer over the years.
