I could not put it down until I had finished reading it. It is a a story of one man's pain as his beloved daughter weas kidnapped, assaulted and killed and the body was neve found. It is his journey back to the place where she was murdered and buried and how he meets God in a totally different and unexpected way. I will not spoil it for you. Every Christian should read this book and also every non Christina or non religious person who may be still searching. The mystery of the Trinity is revealed in a very special way. You will feel peace, contentment and a deeper love or Jesus after reading this book. Has anyone read it yet or am I the last to do so?

The book is fiction. I believe God, the Father, Jesus, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are represented in that book in a way that isn't true to the Word.I called it sacrilegious.

I won the book online in a book give away a few weeks ago. I had heard lots about it. I had my reservations about it. And, since reading over half of it, I feel the same. I did not like the Diety being presented like this person did. God isn't a woman and I think it was wrong to present HIM in that light, and the Holy Spirit isn't a woman, and I rejected that! There are lots of things in that book that just didn't hit me right after reading and studying the Bible. I put the book down in order to read a more believable book. I will finish it, but it might be awhile. Then I will put a review up on my blog.

Barb42, Upon reading the review, I think that it would be better for me to read this book once my fiance and I are more strong in our beliefs of god. I appreciate the review.

Dear Barb, I do not in any way mean to upset you and I can see that you are upset. This is a work of fiction and is not gospel but I know that it has led people to God. Finish the book my friend and maybe you will change your opinion. I do not believe it is sacriligious. God is a Spirit of love. The word is love. I apologise if I upset you in any way. al the book did was to deepen my faith in a loving and merciful God. Many blessings

I have not read it, but most of my family has. My dad even bought about five extra copies to give to people he knows. A couple people in my church have mentioned they read it too. I've heard nothing but good about it, and I really hope even non Christians give it a chance.

I have never read it. I don't recall ever hearing the name of the book before either. I am glad you enjoyed the book. I love it when there is a book I really enjoy reading so much I cannot put it down. Not always a good thing I guess. I once stayed up till 4am reading a book when I had to be at work at 8 am.

I used to stay up all night reading a book - when I was young. I seem to have upset people with htis post. It is a story of a mna's journey from when he lost his little girl to a se*ual predator. It ois very different and poeple have taken offense tha tGod is presented a female. God is spirit - it is a work of fiction that deeply affecte4d me and many others.

I have read the book and like you really enjoyed it, but you need to remember this is a work of fiction and is not accurate with the bible. Many people have taken the wrong meaning from it and taken it much further than the writer every intended it to be taken, as he is a devote Christian. yes it explains many things and lets the reader walk away with a better understanding of the trinity and of acceptance, of questioning god and of Gods love, but you have to take it also for what it is for, it is a work of fiction and not something that should be followed as if it is the bible. I am not trying to put the book down, I loved it, I loved every bit of it and I did get a lot out of it. I just think we should all be aware that while it does help you to understand many things about life and how things work, it is not based on scripture.

You are right; it's a work of fiction. I've read over half of it, but it's all I can do to finish it. When I got to the part where GOD was a Woman, I almost threw it down. Your Eyes, you said the 'truth lies within your heart and soul'. Jesus said HE was the way, truth and the life'. If we are Christians, then His Spirit lives within us. But we still have the freedom of choice. We can either believe the Word or not. I choose to believe God's Word and I didn't like the way the Deity was presented in this book.

I never said that it was gospel. It is an incredible work of fiction that can bring you to a deeper relationshipo with God. God is spirit - neither man or woman but in the story takes the form of either. This book had deepened my faith and the faith of others in God being portrayed in a very loving way. No, it is not based on scripture but many books can lead a person to a deeper knowledge of how much our God loves us. I think that the author has achieved this if he leads just one person to God. Many many blessings and I so appreciate your responses. The word is Love

As with this book, scripture and any other writings were all written by man, None of them can be taken verbatim..NONE.. The truth lies within your own heart and soul, once you are capable of reaching within and learning yourself what truth, love, forgiveness, giving, recieving, all of these truly are in the sense of being.

Oh I'll read it at some point like I said but I know I wont see it as you do (that god has a plan for all of us) since I dont believe in god etc...but I love a good fiction book and my ex an I have similar tastes even though we are of different faiths etc so I trust his judgement that I'd like it...My local library has a couple copies on sale for 10 cents so I might buy a copy and just send him his back...

A friend of mine told me about that book, she also finished reading it. She said it was a really good book that would be a great help for people to understand the heart and mind of God in some ways. I was suppose to borrow it from her but then there were others who borrowed it first, I duno when I will be able to get the book but since I was reminded now, I will ask her again.

I have heard of this book "The Shack" but have not read it. It does sound like it is truly inspirational. I try to stay away from tear jerkers, but who doesn't? I'll have to keep the book in mind though. My fiance and I are just now becoming more religious then I know I've ever been.

Sorry my comment back wasn't as prompt as yours. I was reading through a few discussions and commenting, then I went to look at the book, on it's site. I'm reading a snippet, just got done with the foreward. It's already made me cry, I'm going to talk to my fiance and see about buying it. Even such trivial purchases we have to talk about, no money, lol!

do you have any place nearby that wells used books? Ask around first before buying. It sounds as if you and your fiancee are travek=lling on the same path and this is wonderful. No one ever said "Thou shalt have life fair". It was never a commandment. But what we are promised is that when the times are tough we do have Jeesus walking by our side and we can reach out to him. When you reach out to him and pray about what you need you will start to find the miracles in your life. He does meet all our needs - not wants - but needs. I have been in the calley of despair and it was only Jesus that leant a helping hand to lift me up from where I was. My prayers are with you. Go forward with FAITH and see the chnages that will happen in your life. Many blessinsg to you both.

Awesome, Awesome Read... I feel everyone should take the time to read it. It hits so much in each person. My mother passed away this last Feb and I was staying at my sisters home at the time. She asked me if I read and I said yes, and she handed me this book called the Shack.. Then she proceeded to tell me that when she read it, it was one that hit all her emotions before she was finished reading it. After reading it I totally agreed with her, its an awesome read.. I also would recommend and have recommended it to many already. If I had the money I would buy copies and just hand them out to people..

Well it is not about being a christian or a religious person is it. I mean I have not read the book yet. And reading what you have said about the story, it sounds very interesting as story. I mean the defination of god is so liquid. Of course religion defines god in some human form but ultimately it the force which allows you to get that inner peace -- that is god. We can name it whatever we want. He can be Christ for some, Allah for some, Trimurti and Prajapati for some. Right. Instead lets in todays world of turmoil say deeper love for god. No names just this one god. one force.
