Being good to ourselves.

We must be good to ourselves if we are going to be any good for others.Being good to ourselves can mean such things as taking a day off once in a while when it's not scheduled. Eating a piece of chocolate when it's not recommended. Taking a nap when it's just not possible. Soaking in a tub when there's no time to do it. Life is short and we live in a society where we are expected to be rushing all the time. Not only do others expect it of us but often we expect it of ourselves. Perhaps it`s time we gave some thought to what we really want out of life. Maybe the place that we work won`t have to shut down if we miss one day. All the little things that we are always rushing around to get done, just might be able to wait for another day. If we die tomorrow, the world just might continue without us - maybe. Think about it and lets hear your comments.

Pose- I most whole-heartedly agree with you. It's enjoying the simple things in life that makes life enjoyable. I enjoy sitting on my patio in the evening watching the sky. I enjoy my sweets now and then, and I most assuredly enjoy my chocolate now and then. I enjoy walks with my family to the local park to feed the ducks. I enjoy the times when I'm able to read for pleasure. I enjoy bubble baths. I try to find time for myself daily that is just mine, set aside to enjoy myself. I think it's in doing this we maintain a healthy life. Namaste-Anora

Pose- Thank for the BR. I hope you are enjoying the simple pleasures in life this week, and enjoying the beautiful weather. We've had some really warm days, but the sun is such a relief after such a long winter. Have a wonderful week. Namaste-Anora

Yes, this is why I always take the time to go to a cafe and read a book. Also, a nice massage, a pedicure and a manicure is a nice way to pamper yourself.

One of my firm beliefs is that if we don’t enjoy life, we will never be able to go with a light heart. A life well lived is the one that we can leave behind with ease. Its only when we have been denying ourselves the little pleasures that you mention so well, that we always feel unfulfilled in some way or the other and grudge others their little pleasures. If we just indulge ourselves once in a while, pamper our body and mind with the things we have always wanted to do (within our means, of course) that’s one of the greatest deterrents to jealousy. Its only when we deny ourselves that we don’t like others doing the same things which we have enjoyed. And the funniest thing is that it doesn’t really need much for most of us to enjoy ourselves, we only need to readjust a few things in our daily lives to enjoy.

I think I am too good for myself. I do not set too much limitations because I want to enjoy life. I just enjoy every single day here at home because I do not have work yet. But the problem is I miss working and I wanted to have a busy day. I miss those days where days are too fast and time goes so fast. I miss also rest when I am too tired. I guess a balance between the things you do are the most important ones. We should enjoy while at the same time being responsible to ourselves and to others. We should always remember that once we abuse ourselves too much we will suffer at the end. All of the things we worked hard for will be gone. We should enjoy life as long as we live. Life is short and we can never go back to the old days when we are still young. So better give time to ourselves and do not work and work with resting, relaxing and enjoying what we have worked for.

Hi I agree that it has nothing a all to do with being selfish, because we will be no good to ourselves or others unless we can be kind to ourselves and thus become the best that we can be. Thank you for you response. Blessings.

Yes, i agree to that. We should be good to ourselves and patting our shoulders saying congratulation because we are still living in this world. Giving rewards to ourselves is needed for us to appreciate others. As they say you have to please yourself first before you can please others. As for me, i see to it that i reward myself even for a smallest cost as a comfort for the things i have done to others. Eating a sumptous chocolate cake, or giving yourself a spa session for a massage or just bringing yourself for a good feel movie are just things that you will appreciate. I have done this to myself only several years back and it helps loving myself so much that i can give love to others too..

Hello Pose. Such good advice. People are always in such a rush to get nowhere today. A phone in one ear and a blackberry in the other hand punching our a message. They try to drive and do two more things at the same time. They call it multitasking, I call it idiocy and an accident about to happen. I have a cell phone, but I keep it in the glove box to call the police in case one of those multitaskers crashes into me. I have never used it thank heavens. I spend as much time as possible in the garden. I grow most of my own vegetables. Good thing since I am a vegetarian. Even most of my flowers are edible either in tea or salads. So this I do for me. I do share with the neighbors. That is what I will be missed for. No more free veggies. I don't expect much of myself anymore. Several major illnesses have taught me some major lessons. I now know what I can and cannot do and what to expect for the future. Nice Post as always Pose. Shalom~Adoniah

Hi Adoniah, Thank you for those kind remarks and for taking the time to come here. I agree with you and think there is no need for most of it. The world will I'm sure, continue nicely without us. Blessings.

We just need to enjoy the life with its fullest, the time is changing constantly and the people are only heading towards earning money not life. We should try to find the real pleasure of our life, the drops of rain, the smiling flowers in the garden, the soothing voice of the dry leaves under the tree, watching the birds playing flying high in the sky, these all give us motivation to live in whatever you are at your best.

Yes we must love ourself and be good with it, for we are the only one who can truly do it. We have our daily work/job but sometimes we deprived our self by simply giving it enough rest, we sometimes don't spend for ourselves. most of the time our reason for working is for other people, for our family we sometimes forget ourselves. We have to love ourselves, give ourselves time of freedom to rest and enjoy life, eat food that you crave and give time to meditate the word of God because it is the best gift we can give to ourselves. Try it and you won't regret it. Thanks God Bless. Can we be friend?

i belive that, that's why from a fast-paced life I lived while working as QA for a factory I had this drastic change of career into businesswoman, well it's kinda hectic and sometimes frustrating but at least I dictate the pace and i can surf the net the whole time, hehe, i have an internet cafe for business...that's the way I want my life for now, although I miss the stressful and exhilarating feeling I get when I was still in my former work. weird huh? I guess it's all about getting there, accomplishing something and enjoying your life with friends and family during the process, then maybe we won't have to regret every moment we could have spent just lying around coz that would be boring.
