There's a certain myLot remember that I noticed always tries to keep the discussion going. He/she always comments on every response and asks a question for further clarification or for additional information from his/her respondents. I always comment back. I seldom ask for further information because I notice that so few comment back. Do you comment back when someone comments in your response?

have you ever been asked to clarify a response in a nonsensical way?

I ask a question when i find a certain part or the response quite interesting... but i do like it when the one who responded would comment back to my comment... since that means more activities that could garner more response to my discussion... I comment to all responses to my discussions... that is not necessary but i do it anyway... because i like to...

I always try to respond to the comments on my discussions. I like to let others know that I have honestly read what they have to say. A lot of the time, too, I don't make myself clear when I have a problem so I have to give my responders more information on what it is that I am saying. That way, everyone is informed. Sometimes, I even respond to the comments on other people's discussions.

Hello Oyenkai, I know too who they are. Sometime seems coherent but sometime it looks as if unnecessarilty stretchingthe threads. I do comment the response and also if the comment go to have some additional information or else I do not.

I guess you have been to their discussions too :) How do you handle such comments? Do you STILL respond even though you know they "unnecessarily stretch the thread"? (Nice wording by the way).

Yeah, i intend to that if the topic needs further discussion at all. But if it is not and i think it doesnt further thoughts then i shall leave it then. And also i am doing it to show respect that i have read their response. I also like to make further discussion no matter what, maybe because i wanted to get to know the person or maybe i am much into the topic that i can't help my fingers to type more information regarding the topic posted. I hope everyone is like that in mylot. With that, we can have a very accurate discussion and much bonding talks.

do you receive notifications in your mail for the comments posted on your response?

Not always, c’mon my comments have to have something worthwhile in them! But since I like debates and controversial discussion if they are within my knowledge area, some of my discussions and responses do keep on going forever. Right now I have two such discussions under my interest India and since all of us are Indians there, we all have something to say and the discussion is just going on and on. I’m enjoying it though!

When do you prefer not to comment back? Is it when you have no more rebuttal to give or when you get tired of the discussion?

It all depends on the situation. I do give my counter comments if the need arises otherwise giving one word comment is a waste of time and doesn't serve the purpose. Towards the end the comments goes out of context.

I rarely comment back on my discussions as I think that no one read's my comments. Thus I have stopped replying to those questions now. I realize that it is always a good way to keep your discussions going on.

In my case, I don't answer comments when some one comments on my discussion because i turned the notification off from being notified of the comments. i just wanted to continue responding to a discussion. I dunno, i have more time in work than here in the internet. there's no chance for me to catch up with the comment because when am here am just gonna keep on responding..

Oyenkai- I can't help but wonder if you're referring to me. I always comment back on those threads that I start because I feel it is polite to do. I feel that if someone has taken the time to comment on my threads, which I tend to keep on the serious side, then they deserve to know I read their comments, that I reflected upon them, and that I valued their input. There are times when I do ask for clarification if I don't understand something, but that is for my own knowledge, not just to keep a thread going. I've participated in online communities for almost 11 years now, and I tend to gravitate toward those in which we can have in-depth discussions back and forth on issues. It seems slightly pointless to just start threads, get a few comments and move on with no real discussion. I understand that some are on here to post and make monies on "volume", but I prefer quality of discussion. If I realize that a discussion just isn't moving forward, I tend to not come back to it. Hello Anora! No, you can be rest assured that I am not referring to you :D But I actually AM referring to someone specific LOL I love the clarifications on your discussions because they're not "for the sake of comments" :)

There's nothing more annoying in a forum than when people are stretching out the thread with one-liners or self-evident comments. If \i see too much of this, I leave the thread pronto. I only reply to comments if a response is called for. For example, in the 'King or President for a day' thread, I was asked why I had not wished for anything for myself. This was a direct question requiring a response, and I gave it. Generally, I don't, as I am concerned that if there are too many short comments and responses, the discussion will be deleted and we'll all lose earnings. If you want to exchange comments on a regular basis regarding discussions, it's better to allow friends and PM them.

Are you telling me that they actually delete discussions with short replies? I don't see how such behavior is against the myLot guidelines and I know a certain member who do "stretch" his own discussions but none of them are deleted :) You're probably the last person I'll comment for more details on this discussion because you're one of the first few :) Most of the responses are simply repeating and it's so difficult when they misinterpret it all in the same way even though I've worded my discussion as clear as I could (most responses still think it's about commenting in your OWN discussion).

Hello, I'll mostly resply to comments for the topic i started, but i won't reply when i really out of idea or have nothing more to say/add in, and when i was too busy to reply and i've forgotten about it,haha. I'll be glad if there're people responding to my topics of discussion, and so as a way of appreciation, i'll thank them for replying and add in my comments too. I believe this is a two way interaction, we encourage, give feedback or comments for others and they'll be happy to do the same for us too. What goes around comes around. Happy mylotting :)

But what about the topics that you did not start? Do you reply to the replies made to YOUR reply? Like for instance THIS is not your discussion and I am commenting on your response - do you comment back in these instances or do you ignore them or turn the notifications off?

Haha,erm...normally i'll just let it be and do not reply back, but i do once in a while when i've somemore today, or the topic owner further asks for my opinion, so i'll reply back. The instance is like this, you're asking me a question and so i'll surely answer back, haha.

I dont comment back often. In fact, I probably wont respond to your reply if you give me one. It isnt becaue I dont want to continue the discussion. It is simply because I havent found a good way to know when people have replied to my comments! Is there something I am missing? Is there somewhere that will show me when someone replies to my comment? (I will make an effort to get back and check this, because I would really like to know. I think it would make my time on myLot far more enjoyable!)

I figured it out! It is part of the email notifications. I have them set to 'on' for now. Im not sure it I will like having all of those emails sent to me or not. But at least I know how to do it now! Thanks for starting this discussion. You and some of the comments left on it helped me figure out the answer to my own question!

I think it's just quite ethical to reply back to a person who takes the effort to give a discussion-worthy reply to my threads. It encourages further discussion, participation that MyLot pays us for every month. Cheers!

Hello oyenkai!!! Well I do comment for each response I get in my discussion. And also I respond to the comments I get as far as possible. I believe doing this is the very nice thing. This shows the real interest of the discussions. Rather than posting here and there and not returning to the discussion, it is better to respond back to the comments which is surely help increase the friendship in the mylot and also they have the greater value in mylot. If necessary, I may also ask for the further clarifications. I did this yesterday hehe...I asked the clarification twice in a particular discussion. Its because it made me more curious with each response. But sometimes, we get notification problems and can't know that our response has been commented. I have seen this happening few times in mylot. Immediately when I get the notification in the mail about the comment, atleast I leave the few words further as far as possible. Happy mylotting oyenkai...Good luck

I think that I sometimes comment back if I'm in the mood but if I started a discussion, I always comment back to all that responded to my discussion because I want my discussion to go furthest and not just abandon it. And sometimes for clarifications also. And more earn money too. hihihi.
