My husband and I are planning to move from Ca and are choosing among Portland OR, Coeur D'Alene ID, and Colorado Springs CO. We have visited some websites but we'd gladly appreciate if anyone could give us first-hand info on these places. Thank you.

I've never been to Portland, so I have nothing to say about it. I've been to Colorado Springs, and it wasn't one of my favorite places. It's on the edge of the Rockies and near the wasteland part of Colorado where there is nothing for miles and miles. The Garden of the Gods is there and pretty to look at, but it's no place I'd want to live. Coeur D'Alene is absolutely beautiful. It does have a lot of snow and cold in the winter, but if you don't mind that, it might be what you're looking for. I have a friend who lives there. Her husband builds houses, and they both rave about where they live. I could give you her e-mail address if you'd like. I know she would be happy to answer your questions.

I live in Colorado Springs. Its nice here but not much to do. Once youve visited all the tourist spots you really wont have a desire to go back. I dont know your views are politically but Colorado Springs is a very conservative town, some may like that about it but a lot dont. Denver or even Boulder are great choices for Colorado, but the Springs just doesnt have enough excitement for me. Good luck!

I live in Coeur d Alene. It is beautiful here Though house prices are way up at the moment. Its growing by leaps and bounds every year. You have mountains and lakes...plains...everything right within the area. And its nice too cause you are only about an 8 hour drive from Portland...etc.

jobs....are getting better. Though not great. You'd have more luck in Spokane for those. Housing in Spokane is better as well

Portland is lovely. I've lived here nearly my entire life and will most likely remain in the Pacific Northwest for years to come. We have a great public transportation system (buses and MAX), trees everywhere, rivers...I would definitely recommend it.
