Playing videos with VLC

I'm trying to play an MKV file using VLC. The problem is the video plays normally until at some point then it will return to the beginning of the video. I don't understand, what is happening, and I tried resetting to defaults, but still yielded the same results. It would be nice if you help me out a little on this one.

Hey there! I have the same problem with some of my MKV files. I think the best thing to do is to update your VLC Player. When I did that, my problem went away and played all file types properly. If that doesn't work, maybe you lack codecs. If you have all the codecs you need, maybe there's a problem with the file you are trying to view.

It seems I have the latest version, but I don't think I have the codecs. It would be nice if you could help me on that one.

Some players always have problems with some parts of the file.I want to say something,i used to play some vedios, when i reached some part of the file. The window goes blank and only audio is working, nothing can be seen. What can we do with this.My suggestions is to skip that part of ur file and play the file.
