Should people take an anger management class as part of the driving requirements

This struck me as completely hilarious. I don't know why other than the fact that road rage occurs all the time and taking an anger management course may keep the birds in the sky instead of flying out our windows. Instead of anger management courses people just need to keep taking the driving portion of the driving test.lol

Personally I think anger management as part of a requirement for earning your driver's license would be a good thing. I live in a congested part of the NorthEast and it is out of control the way that people drive. Everyone is in a hurry and impatient and does stupid things on the road out of not being able to control their anger. I think that people need to be reminded about the power an auto has and how dangerous it is to drive like you've just escaped from prison. Common courtesy is forgotten on the roads and total disrespect for speed limits and stop signs. Learning how to be a calmer and smarter driver can be achieved by learning some skills to deal with anger. Yes there are a lot of stupid drivers on the road and it gets you mad but retalyating when someone cuts you off puts others and yourself at risk. I worked in a facility that dealt with the treatment of people involved in motor vehicle accidents. What I saw in my 3 years was disturbing. Making people more aware of their anger issues is a step in helping to get the roads safer. Of course there are tons of other issues involved but this could help.

I agree that people need to learn to control their anger. However, I think that the anger is caused by people who shouldnt have their license in the first place! People who dont obey traffic laws and who are bad drivers are placing themselves and other people in danger. They also cause a lot of anger, which makes other people do stupid things. I live in the NE as well. One of my favorite examples is people who cruise in the left lane. They arent passing anyone, but they stay there just the same. This forces other people to pass them on the right. People get impatient because of that person cruising in the passing lane (and thus breaking the law) so they end up squeezing around them whenever possible. Other people wait impatiently behind that person and get more and more angry at every opportunity the 'cruiser' has to move over to the right lane.

yes I agree with you but anyone who passes the test, even if they can barely speak english can get a license. I used to drive all over and the last ten years or so, I have had huge anxiety issues which has affected my driving confidence. It has gotten so badly congested where I live and the people have gotten worse as far as disrespect of the speed limit and even when I do the speed limit I am uncomfortable with drivers following me so closely. I am not guilty of being a left lane d#@*, just driving in the right lane and obeying the speed limit it feels like not only do I worry about being rearended but I have people on side streets ignoring that they have the stop sign and pulling out in front of me. some days it is crazy. I used to work on a semi busy road where there was an accident atleast once a week in front of our business due to people going too fast and not paying attention. cops around here are too lazy to get out of their cars and give speeding tickets.

Maybe valium, anger management, English classes, and additional driving lessons should be handed out with driver's licenses. Maybe a psychological evaluation in order to get a driver's lic. would also be a good idea.

I couldnt agree with you more! I think the system in place for getting a driver's license is ridiculous! The driving test is a joke. It doesnt really show a persons ability or inability to drive! In my state, you have to get a new license every 4 years. I think you should have to take a driving test each time. If you fail the test, you should have to attend a driving school before you can try again. It would be a pain in the butt, but over all I think people would become better drivers. This would be a huge help to the economy. There would be more jobs because more time would be required to test people. More people wouldnt have their licenses, so public transportation would get a boost. The cities and states would get revenue from that. They would also have to create more jobs for the transport of people and sale of tickets. Everyone would win! Safer roads and an economic boost!

That's a great idea. I have always thought the driving test where you DRIVE should be given every year or so to make sure people are driving safely. If you fail the test then you have to go to driver training and drive for a couple weeks before getting another test. DMV would certainly get a boost.
