Has anyone ever went to a massage school to get a massage instead of a spa? I have been considering doing this because I have heard it was cheaper.

My husband is currently going to massage school. So I get my massages from him without having to pay anything! Except tuition! HAHA! Anyway, there is a clinic at the school. Each of the students has to do 40 clinic hours in order to graduate. That means that each of the students has to give about 40 massages. The rates are definitely cheaper than going to a spa. At his school, it is $40 for a 1 hour massage. The down side to doing this is you dont always know what kind of massage you will get. There are many, many students. Some of them are much better than others. If you go and get a good massage, you can schedule another appointment with that therapist. At my husband's school, each therapist can only work on the same person 5 times in the clinic. That means if you were to get 5 massages from the same therapist, you would have to do one of 2 things. Find another therapist OR talk to the therapist you have been seeing to schedule with them privately. This is a good way to find a therapist you like because there are so many students in the school. You may also be able to work out something with the therapist if you get regular massages. I hope you find a school near you for a good inexpensive massage!
