I think macafee is; it's easy to install and update and doesn't give a bunch of annoyting update reminders to me. I have heard it is better too. Not just from the people who sell it but from people who use it. I can't say a lot because I've never had a virus using either one but I switched from norton to macefee and I like it more.

Doesn't matter now. I can help you. I downloaded Kaspersky from a torrent downloader website. They give you free certificates too. You get some 20 certificates. Long enough for some ten years. And for free. Actually it would cost you some real cash. But it's free there. I think it was thepiratebay.com. You can also try bitmonster.com or btjunkie.com Go Ahead and protect your computer now.

I think you made a grave mistake there. You shouldn't have switched from Norton to McAfee. In fact McAfee itself was reported to carry a minor trojan virus with it. And you should use the update option regularly, or else how will the Antivirus know about the new threats that are out in the net?

Sorry to hear that you have lost most of the data due to the virus attack. I love working in computers and visiting plenty of sites mayled to entry of virus. I think,in this regard AVG rocks..It is a good antivirus software. Apart from it NOrton is also there. But its better if you check out AVG.

Hello my friend. I have seen many people saying A.V.G. is the best. But let me tell you a fact. It is the worst! Not very bad, but among the three you mentioned, it is really bad. I recommend you to use the following Antivirus: -Kaspersky -Norton Kaspersky is best for Windows xp. Moreover it has world wide acclamation and many file sharing websites use it. You can get free trial version for download. Regards, AJ: Your ebook freak.

I recommend NOD32 but if you will insist, I shall choose AVG for it is already tested by the majority and their service is quite well for a free service. Just be careful because sometimes you can't really trust these anti-virus programs unless you know what items are they detecting as a virus or not.

Well, I don't use any of those listed as my virus protection. I learned of a really good one when I was having my daughter's computer fixed. It's also the protection that my cities police department uses. It's called Avast, it's completely free for anyone wanting to use it for home use and it's easy to install. I get updates all the time and it lets me know when something is trying to get to my computer. Just go to www.avast.com and check it out.

We use AVAST on our work computers. I've also heard of one called, Avira or something like that. Since I'm on Charter High speed I use their antivirus from F-Secure. I don't know if it's free if you don't use Charter.

The thing that I heard from a computer guru is that AVG is good for free. Norton is NOT goodif you get the suite version because it takes up so much space on your computer. I have avg and it seems to work pretty well. so i guess I will stick with it until something goes wrong with it.

I use Avast, for home computer and as long as it's not a business computer it can be use for free, I Like avast and would never go back to avg, Avast updates its self on a daily bases, and will alert you if something that you are going to download will hurt your computer, It also lets you know if you have picked up a virus and will prompt you on what you want to do such as move it to a chest before it affects your system, And it lets you know that a site has a worm or virus on it with a popup, and allows you to leave the room, for a program to be free it has a lot of usefulness to it

AVG is the best Antivirus available as of now.But I would rather suggest to invest some amount in buying a licensed version of antivirus, it is always a better idea to spend a small amount rather than losing the data. McAfee uses a lot of memory so you can use Kaspersky,Bitdefender, NOD32 these are few that I would suggest you to use as a antivirus software and keep you desktop safe from virus and the data present on it. happy Mylotting!!!

I am using AVIRA anti virus, its free :) and I also use a teatimer, namely Spybot so that I can track changes done to my PC's registry. So all in all based on my experience, AVIRA is the best :) low resources consumption+good anti virus

I am using ESET NOD32 AV Business Edition right now, but before I got that, I was using AVG and it was really good, but I think neither those three is the best one out there. But sure, out of those three you've mentioned, I'd go with AVG.

ok well AVG version 7.5 is the best one if you can get it just keep updating it as version 8.0 has flaws and misses viruses. If you go to download.com and install a programme called recuva i think it will let you recover the files you have lost. What i would do if i were you is get your computer disconnected off the net go to a library with a pen drive download at least 2 anti virus softwares i recommend AVG and NOD32 which is made by kenel. Then run them and delete the file then recover your data and back up any important data back onto a memory stick before you go on the net. Then if your using the net everyday make sure you updat these as often as possible they normally auto update when you connect to the net.

I was able to use Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky and AVG. but I ended up using Avira Anti-virus. It once saved my brothers laptop ( my brother's antivirus before I installed avira was norton). My best two anti virus would be NOD32 or Avira Anti-virus :)

Try out Trendmicro at www.trendmicro.com. It has a free online virus scanner, you do not even have to download and install to scan your computer. I think it is very good. AVG is good too. They are all good, but if you want really good with customer support etc etc. You really should consider paying for one.

so far,I'd only tried avira, kaspersky, avg and avast.I'd never used McAfee or Norton antivirus,so I won't recomment u on these 2 software.well,I think avg n avast would be the better choices.I had no problem wif them and friends around me also using these 2 antivirus.for avira n kaspersky that I use previously, sometimes they cannot detect virus.

For me the best anti-virus is Norton it never failed me even once but for free ones i used Avast or AVG they just have the proper protection for a free software and they give the best support on users. AVG has just problems with updates for being to slow sometimes.
