We had a little guy show up at our farm today. He was in great danger of being ran over on the road. We were building fence and he came up the road. At first we tried to chase him away. It soon became obvious he wasn't listening. And when the second car just missed him, we couldn't stand it. The little guy has a tag and we called and got his name and owners name and number. Well, it seems everyone was gone for the day, so he has stayed with us. The thing is we love this little guy. He is quiet and playful. And he likes to stretch out in your lap and nap like a cat. He is a great little guy, and we are wondering if the breed is like this? Or is he different in his great manners and quiet ways? If he is an example of the breed in general, we're thinking this breed might be s small breed we would like. Any imput from other owners would be appreciated. OR, what is your favorite small breed? And why? Thanks!

I have heard the Bichon Frise dogs are temperamental and snappish, especially around children. But I've met some that are real sweeties. I think it's how they are raised. I have had two Boston Terriers and they are just perfect dogs. I'm not allergic to them as I am most dogs. But they are very active and like to play a lot which doesn't fit well with my physical condition. Luckily, Gus is nearly 9 and has slowed down a bit. I've always had shelter dogs and they are absolutely the best! Gus was a rescue, too, even though he has a pedigree. If you want a dog, go to the local shelter and rescue a little guy or girl that needs a home. There are all kinds there and you'll not be sorry.
