Hello everyone! I'm working on my thesis right now, and I'm writing on financial impact of the current financial crisis on small and medium-sized companies. But the topic is too general, can you give me some suggestions how to narrow it? Thank you very much!:)

Would you be able to write a case study of one particular sector of the economy, or one particular business? Perhaps you could compare and contrast two businesses: one that operates in a sector that has been largely unaffected by the current climate and one that has suffered particularly badly. Or perhaps you could write about the impact of specific government measures to help small and medium sized companies, maybe interviewing someone who runs one, so that you can find out what the impact has been.

Why don't you try to narrow down your title so you can narrow down the topics to be covered. For example "The Economic Effect of the Financial Crisis to Small and Medium - sized Companies". In this case, you will narrow your report to the effect on the government's economy or effects on town's economy. By having a new title again, you can narrow your report on the social effects of the economic crisis. I was taught that research / thesis must revolve only around your title and scope and limitation. I think you must give a deeper thought on what you really like to discuss in your thesis. Good luck to you!

I feel your topic touches wider dimension of the ongoing recession impacting small and medium industries. It may be narrowed down as Impact of current recession on the financial performance and competitiveness on the commodity based basic small and medium-sized industries. The study may focus on analyzing the effect of falling demand and price of basic commodities on the financial performance of the small-sized companies, leading to formulation of coping strategies. It may also be linked to the high cost of mobilizing credit and market constraints. Thanks.
