I love when they release things after 4:00PM on a Friday...like no one will notice. Here's the promised official photo of Air Force One's Flyover of New York. Yes, it's a nice shot but was it worth what it did to the people down below? This could have been created in Photoshop in less than five minutes.

Tell you what, I can't see anything other than the plane itself in the image. I do't see any problem in it. What could be the reason why you are saying that it is a fake image. Can you give me a link where I can see a comparatively large picture, please!

No, no, I'm not saying that it's a fake image. It's the real photo that was released to the press. My point was that, doing what they did, scaring the number of New Yorkers that they did, wasn't worth it when an image like this could have easily been done with computer software. Here's a link to a nice large copy of the photo: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/may/08/air-force-one-photo-op-aide-resigns

Don't you think, that is why we say that US is the country which can do unbelievable things! Actually, I liked the picture, the panic which was created to people was bad!

That indeed is sad but still your country is at top and it is the most powerful country in whole world. Every country is looking to US for any recovery from Global Recession. I have faith in Obama and he would do everyhing so that US comes back on track. We all pray for that. You are not alone who are facing GR!

I agree, this was also an outrageous waste of money.

oh wow like youve never bout anything outrageous, the only difference is they were trying to capture american prestige. even if ny knew about the flights people still would have been scared when they seen it. thats the funny part. i seriously dont think the scene could have been that bad the media plays it out like afo damn near clipped a building or something. it seems like the plane did crash they way everyone is talking about it. i guess we still need to be sensitive in the way we do things in ny, cuz anywhere else no one would have tripped. it would have been "cool is that afo?"---

That's long been the practice when they want a story to go unnoticed - bury it on a Friday. SNL said the same thing about Photoshop. The good thing is the guy who wass responsible for that stupid stunt is gone. Annie

Taken from the web site listed above with the larger picture displayed. When Obama appointed Caldera to the job during the presidential transition, the then president-elect hailed Caldera as having a CV that was second-to-none. Obama said then: "I know he'll bring to the White House the same dedication and integrity that have earned him the highest praise in every post."

Thats IT???????? CRIPE! They should have given me the $300,000. I could have done better than that from my living room and I probably would have only charged them a few hundred bucks for it. No need for fighter jets (I could have put a few in there if the wanted) no need for freaking NYC out, no need for taking AirForce 1 for a joy ride and whatshisface could have kept his job and they STILL would have gotten a much better quality photo shoot. Yep, I could Photoshop that plane in the foreground of any existing shot and I'm sure there are plenty of aerial shots of New York available on the web.

Just another case of one of Obama's Clinton adminstration hires that was incompetent or a tax cheat or pay-for-play person. After being in the Clinton administrion Caldera a a political appointment by the Democratic govenor of NM to be the president of the University of New Mexico and when that didn't work out they had to pay him $700,000 to step down(maybe he should use some of that to reimburse the taxpayers for the photo opp cost) and now he will probably go back there as a professor at a slalary of $120,000. The photo opp never should have happened just from a waste of tax payer money view, especially during an economic crises and when Obama is claiming to be trying to cut costs, he should start with his own departments

I agree, I can't come up with one legitimat reason for it...other than to intentionally scare people which I hesitate to suggest but it seems to fit under the circumstances.

That was very, very stupid. And why wasn't the prez asked before they took AF1 out? What if he had needed it? I'm glad that person resigned, what a fool. But this shows how government thinks--they don't think to save money, just spend it. You and I would have photoshopped it because our first thought would be to save money. Government people don't think of saving and if they had it would've saved a lot of trouble and not scared so many people.

I don't know if this was the official Air Force One or the "other one". I know that they have more than one airliner ready for the President at Andrews Air Force Base at all times. I do agree with you about the spend, spend, spend mentality and it's not confined to just the government. When I worked at the college we received a couple of government grants, some of which was allocated to our division (technology) and to my department (academic technology) for equipment and other essentials. At the end of the fiscal year we had a division Spend Down meeting where we talked about what we could buy so that we used every penny of our allocation of the grant money. During the last couple of days of the fiscal year I would always end up going on a spending spree at Office Depot and, the closer I was able to get to that last penny, the happier my Vice President was. The theory behind this was that, if we didn't spend it all, the Board would think that we didn't need as much next year but it was wasteful.

It's not worth much of anything, if the truth be told. What are they going to do with it now? It was a stupid thing to do, both because of the anguish it caused New Yorkers and because of the money spent for a picture that, as you said, could have been created in Photoshop in five minutes. How ridiculous.

yeah they could have easily done that with photoshop and not only saved people the fright but also the taxpayers their money. I have heard some "conspiracy theory" like people who think that the story of the plane being there for a photo op is a lie and this photo is photoshop...lol.

There have been so many idiotic things done during the first few months of this Administration that by the end of 4 years it will be unbelievable. Whoever writes the story of this Admin., will have to write a series not a book. Shalom~Adoniah

Hey spalladino! First, before I start I just have to that those little blondies in your avatar are beyond gorgous! So those are the little Grandbabies! They are so beautiful! I hate to get into this subject now after that! Ok, here I go to the opposite extreme!!! Being a New Yorker, but living 45 minutes from NYC, when I saw this on the news I was in shock! How dare they do this to those of us who lived through the horrific 9/11 Towers being hit by planes flown so low! Why would they even think about doing something so stupid in a place where people have never recovered from that shock? Who the phuck thought up this manuever? There was no clearance with the Mayor of NY or the President! There is no excuse for such a terrible scare to the people of NYC! And I don't even know if the persons whose idea this was were even punished!!! I saw how low that plane was flying and the fright in the eyes of the people on the ground, and the words they said, "Oh God Not Again!" And all for what? Do a test flight somewhere else where people are not still reeling from a devastation like seeing the Twin Towers blown to bits on 9/11!!!

Hi Opal! Yes, those are two of them...brother and sister at their big brother's Little League game. Thank you...I, of course, think they're beautiful and perfect in every way. I can only imagine the panic in New York that day...it's outrageous. Someone resigned yesterday but his name escapes me. He's taking responsibility for it but I still don't understand the rationale behind it...beyond stupidity.

You are so right it could have been produced other ways, and it was not worth it. They had no right scaring all the people like they did. They should have used a lot more common seance.

Darn right they should have. I have never seen anything so STUPID in my life! I've heard some of the 911 tapes and people were freaking out, which is very understandable considering what happened there.
