lobsters feel acute pain

I just found out that lobsters feel acute pain for forty five seconds when tossed in a pot of boiling water. They actually attempt to escape during cooking even when tossed in head first. That has put me off lobster permanently I think. * Lobsters have an acute sensory system that can tell minute differences in water temperature and seek out the most comfortable place to be in their natural environment, leading their families single file on the bottom of the ocean. As they've no vocal cords, they communicate via pheromones.

well, I always thought they must feel pain, but then again, other animals also feel pain as they die, but they have to die, and they try to do it as quickly as possible, even lobsters, after all, if they don't go in the water alive, they would kill you having said that - I don't like lobster and won't eat it prepared anyway

I am not keen on lobster or other sea critters as well. I will eat cans of tuna (Dolphin safe) but that is it. Mom (who was raised by a fisherman) laughs at me, but oh well!

Ouch... Poor little creatures but they're meat is one of the best foods around. I hate to see any animal when being killed for food consumption. Here in my country people love to eat lobsters. Especially when going on swimming. I like to eat them too but not too much because it can cause high blood.

Hello CraftyCorner , I don't eat lobster and now I especially won't even try it again.I once tried being a vegatarian but it didn't last longer than 6 months. I will remember what you've said about lobsters every time I see one now.

basicly true...but it´s the best way of "killing" them for foodconsoptions. They "go bad" after they are killed (also they might be some taste differences) Not that I eat Lobsters anyways...Not very fond of seafood in general and "crablike" food in paticuar...

Yea I know, it is just they seem so much more like us than a lobster, it is less surprising to hear about them than to hear about lobsters.
